- A family project that started from the developer’s children’s drawings
- Build a combo with Perfect Reflection and defeat the enemy with Power Cannon.
- Supports 13 languages including Korean… Targeting a full release in April 2027
EiSee Games, an indie developer from Seville, Spain, released a free demo of the arcade shooting game ‘REFLECT89’ on Steam on October 21. The full version is currently under development with a target release date of April 2027.
‘REFLECT89’ is a shooting game where you attack by reflecting enemy bullets back at them instead of dodging them. You build combos by successfully landing consecutive ‘Perfect Reflections’—deflecting bullets at precise timings—and then attack enemies with a powerful power cannon. Its distinguishing feature is the addition of ‘reflection’ as an offensive method to the evasion-focused gameplay of typical shooting games.
Reflect enemy bullets with a rotating reflector
The player selects either ‘CORE’ or ‘AURA’ to start the game. The basic combat method involves deflecting incoming bullets with a rotating reflector and sending them back to the enemy.
If the reflection timing is precise, Perfect Reflection is activated. Successfully executing this consecutively to build a combo allows you to fire the Power Cannon. You can also select an upgrade after each wave to adjust your playstyle for the rest of the game.
10 stages and 50 waves, endless mode
The full version includes 10 stages and a total of 50 campaign waves. Various enemies and unique bosses are scheduled to appear in each stage.
After completing the campaign, you can challenge the infinite survival mode ‘ENDLESS SIGNAL’. How long you last is recorded on the leaderboard, allowing you to compete with other players for rankings. The free demo also supports Steam World Rankings. The soundtrack was handled by Noxees.
A family game that started from two children’s drawings
‘REFLECT89’ is a project started by developer Alejandro Clavijo to enjoy with his children. His two children, who loved skill-based games, drew characters directly on paper, and Clavijo created the in-game characters based on those drawings.
A small project intended for family enjoyment gradually grew in scale and evolved into a game set for release on Steam. Claviho explained this development background in an email sent to Indiegame.com.
The free demo supports a total of 13 languages, including Korean, Japanese, English, and Spanish. The game can be downloaded and played on Steam.
