A sudden blizzard has buried a quiet harbor town, and the only thing standing between its residents and their winter festival is you, a snow vacuum, and a furnace. Mango Leaf Games has released a free Steam demo of Winter Whiskers, a healing snow-clearing adventure aimed at a full launch in 2026.
Clear the Snow, Restart the Steam, Warm the Town
The game takes place in Winterlight Harbor, buried in a blizzard. You use a snow vacuum to clear roads and shopfronts, then feed the collected snow into a furnace to turn it into steam.
When the steam machinery runs again, power returns to the houses, streetlights come on, and heat from the vents melts frozen paths. Clearing snow becomes the process of warming the town itself.
The game moves through several districts in turn, introducing new tools and activities. Episodes include blowing snow off flowerpots to revive the blooms and clearing ice obstacles and large snowdrifts. Residents also make requests: tidying shop entrances or delivering items they need to get ready for the festival.
According to the Steam page, the game has no time management or complicated mechanics and centers on snow clearing, steam puzzles, and neighbor requests.
Scandinavian Towns, Japanese Snow-Melting Systems
According to press coverage, the developer drew deep inspiration from the colorful streetscapes of Scandinavian cities and from Japan’s snow-melting systems. The world is bright and cheerful in a chibi style, blending warmth and wit.
The game aims for a short, relaxing experience that still delivers deep satisfaction, turning what could be a chore into a cozy kind of play. Later in the story there is also a warm festival scene with hot cocoa and games.
What’s in the 15-Minute Demo
The demo runs about 15 minutes. Players learn to use the snow vacuum and the snow blower, complete a request from Little Franny, and can build a snowman. The center of the demo is clearing the neighborhood so residents have a pleasant place to gather.
Art director Axie Lotl asked players who enjoy the demo to leave a review and share what they liked and what they would like to see next.
A Couple’s Second Game, After Kokoro Kitchen
Mango Leaf Games is a small team formally founded in 2024 by two people, Axie and Leaf. The team says its first game, Kokoro Kitchen, achieved modest success and taught it a lot during development. Winter Whiskers is the team’s second title.
The game was announced in May 2026 and took part in the Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration. On June 29, the team ran its first public playtest on itch.io to gather player feedback. The Steam demo and Next Fest appearance are meant to put the game in front of many more players.
Who This Is For
Strong fit for: cozy-game players who like tidy, low-pressure loops such as cleaning, repairing, and restoring; fans of games that turn chores into satisfying systems; players drawn to seasonal, small-town settings with gentle soundtracks; anyone looking for something short and family-friendly.
Cautious fit for: players who need a firm release date, since the press kit says December 2026 but the Steam page lists only 2026; anyone who wants review or wishlist data first, as neither is confirmed.
Less ideal for: players who want challenge, time pressure, or deep mechanics, which the Steam page says the game deliberately avoids.
The Takeaway
Winter Whiskers has an appealing small idea at its center: snow becomes steam, steam becomes light and warmth, and a chore becomes the way a town comes back to life. Its 15-minute demo is a low-cost way to see whether the loop satisfies, and the game appears in the October Steam Next Fest ahead of its planned December launch.
