- Martial Arts Hack-and-Slash from Bangkok Indie Team… Steam Demo Released
- The journey of the Demonic Cult leader seeking revenge… An action game capturing the vibe of classic martial arts movies
- 25-member development team sticks to schedule despite flood damage, deploys final build in the middle of the flood
A new demo of the new martial arts action game ‘Burning Sword: Death Sun’ , developed by Bangkok-based indie developer Nomadic Games and distributed by Rising Tide Publishing, has been released for free.
This demo, which made a surprise appearance on Steam, features a complete overhaul that speeds up combat tempo and adds light roguelike progression elements to allow for experimentation with new play styles.
“Burning Sword,” a third-person hack-and-slash action game built with Unreal Engine 5, is considered a work that stands out for its precise and fast-paced swordsmanship inspired by classic martial arts movies.
Above all, the eye-catching, dazzling flame swordplay effects, cinematic direction, and brutal dark fantasy worldview combine to offer a unique, dark, and intense sense of immersion.

Martial arts action unfolding on the blade of revenge
The player takes on the role of Zhang Yixian, the leader of the Crimson Dust Demon Sect who has returned from the brink of death, and embarks on a desperate revenge drama.
Set against the backdrop of a chaotic era where martial arts sects divide and rule the world, the protagonist Zhang Yixian’s ultimate target is Gao Tianqi, the strongest martial artist who wields the deadly ‘Death Sun’ poison. To reach him, the player must defeat the martial arts masters standing in their way one by one by utilizing swordsmanship, palm techniques, and powerful internal energy.
This demo, refined from scratch by the development team, boasts optimized movement paths that allow users to dive into combat without a moment of boredom.
While preserving the core combat and difficulty that capture the satisfying feel of martial arts action, a new roguelite system has been added to provide the fun of replayability. Through this, players can research and experiment with their own unique action styles amidst new challenges in every playthrough.
The texture of a martial arts movie captured with Unreal Engine 5
Developed with Unreal Engine 5, ‘Burning Sword: Death Sun’ focused on reinterpreting the unique sensibility of classic martial arts films with modern visuals.
In particular, the flashy effects of the sword blade burning red and the fast-paced swordplay action that keeps you glued to the screen every moment are the core of this game.
Currently, tags such as hardcore action, dark fantasy, and gore are registered on the Steam store page, and with the developer also promising intense violence and brutal depictions of blood, it is garnering anticipation as an action game with an overall rough and heavy atmosphere.
