- New sci-fi action title aiming for differentiation through AI-based development pipeline and real-time broadcast integration
- Twitch integration allowing viewers to intervene in battles in real time… Features stealth and hacking action
Indie studio Corgee Inc. announced that it will unveil the first playable demo of the sci-fi side-scrolling action shooter ‘Angel Guardian’ at the Steam Cyberpunk Fest, which will be held from August 3 to 10.
Angel Guardian is a sci-fi action shooter set in the space station kingdom of Altera, depicting the journey of an elite guardian named Kita who must rescue the young prince Age from a station occupied by hostile forces.
It is characterized by providing various strategies by combining close-range and long-range combat using swords and upgradeable rifles, as well as stealth and hacking elements.
In this demo, you can experience the core elements of the game firsthand, including fast-paced action, stealth gameplay, a hacking system, and Twitch chat integration.
Sci-fi combat where fast-paced action and strategy coexist
The player must use dashes and dodges to avoid enemy attacks and freely switch between swords and firearms to break through the captured space station.
The weaponry consists of eight dual-upgradable rifles and a melee sword, allowing for diverse combat strategies depending on the play style. In addition, the game enhances strategic depth by providing various options beyond a frontal assault, such as hacking security systems or bypassing locked areas to find hidden paths.
As the game progresses, the threat from enemies grows, and battles against powerful bosses require quick judgment and strategic responses.
From Protected to Combat Companion, Prince Age’s Growth
Another feature of the game is the dynamic companion system.
The young prince ‘Age,’ who is initially a subject of protection, grows into a reliable comrade who fights alongside the player as the story progresses. Players can cooperate with Age to continue the battle and experience more immersive sci-fi action in the tense environment of a closed space station.
In this demo, you can also preview the initial system where Age grows and supports combat.
Twitch chat integration where viewers directly intervene, games created together with the community
The biggest differentiating feature of Angel Guardian is its Twitch chat integration system.
When a streamer activates this feature, viewers can directly influence gameplay through live chat, such as by summoning enemies, providing ammo, or activating Age’s special abilities. This creates unpredictable situations in every broadcast and offers the unique fun of the streamer and viewers completing the game together.
Since the Twitch feature is provided as an option, users who do not broadcast can enjoy the game in the standard single-player mode.
In addition to this, the developer is also conducting a community participation project in which they create portraits of streamers who broadcast in Twitch mode to fit the game style and feature them as rescue targets NPCs in the actual game.
Several creators have already been realized as characters in the game’s world, and the developer introduced Angel Guardian as “a game created together with the community.”
Software-based studio that integrates AI tools into the creative pipeline
Corgee Inc. is an independent studio that has been developing software for team collaboration, project management, and workflow building, and is now venturing into the gaming sector by leveraging this technological foundation.
According to the Steam page, the development team utilized AI tools throughout the entire development process, including story structuring, dialogue writing, enemy balancing, difficulty design, concept art exploration, animation prototype creation, music iteration, and voice testing. However, they explained that AI was used as a creative aid, and all content was personally planned, reviewed, and completed by the development team.
Angel Guardian, which is set for official release, combines fast-paced side-scrolling action with stealth, hacking, and a growth-type companion system, as well as putting a unique play style at the forefront where viewers directly intervene in the game through Twitch chat.
Attention is focused on how this differentiation system will be received by users and streamers through the first demo to be unveiled at Steam Cyberpunk Fest on August 3.
