Pomyra has announced a revival collaboration update for Riichi City (마작일번가), its online riichi mahjong game, bringing back the Danganronpa crossover content that previously received positive player response. The event runs from July 10 through August 9.

Four Danganronpa characters return for the limited period: Naegi Makoto, Kirigiri Kyoko, Celestia Ludenberg, and Enoshima Junko. Characters are obtainable through the in-game recruitment system, with base costumes, awakened costumes, and swimsuit variants available through additional costume tickets. Riichi City original characters Choi Hyorin and Elsido also return as limited revival appearances during the same window.
The event currency is the Monokuma Medal, earned through daily attendance rewards and the “Mahjong Danpa” minigame. Medals exchange for costume tickets and other in-game items. Community events on X (formerly Twitter) are running alongside the in-game content, with participants eligible for in-game items and GS25 mobile gift vouchers.
Riichi City markets itself as accessible to mahjong beginners through its tutorial system and streamlined interface — the Danganronpa collaboration draws on the mystery-adventure game’s sustained fanbase among players who may not be core mahjong players. Danganronpa has maintained consistent affection among indie game audiences since its original Spike Chunsoft release, making the IP a natural fit for the kind of crossover that brings existing fans into a game they might not otherwise encounter.
The revival format — bringing back previously released collaboration content rather than introducing entirely new assets — serves both audiences: returning players who missed the original run, and new players who joined the game after the initial collaboration ended.
Event period: July 10, 10:00 AM through August 9, 11:59 PM. Full details available on the official Riichi City website.
