In the chaotic heart of a space station under siege, the warrior Kita must find an escape while protecting the young prince, Eiji. However, in this adventure, the escape route isn’t just up to the player—Twitch viewers can intervene in real-time to change the course of the game.
Texas-based indie studio Corgee Inc. has officially announced Angel Guardian, a sci-fi side-scrolling action shooter inspired by 90s classic animation. The title is slated for a second-half 2026 release on PC (Steam) and Steam Deck.
A Space Station Painted in 90s Nostalgia
Angel Guardian stands out with a visual identity rooted in the bold lines, vibrant colors, and expressive character designs of 1990s sci-fi anime. The game takes place on Altera, a space station where the systems have collapsed following a mysterious attack.
The developer describes the gameplay as a traditional “run-and-gun” structure that blends Mega Man-inspired combat with an ICO-style escort narrative.
Shooting, Stealth, and Hacking
The combat is built around speed and maneuverability, but it offers more than just mindless shooting:
- Arsenal: Players can utilize swords and eight different types of rifles, each featuring two-stage upgrades.
- Tactical Variety: Beyond confrontation, players can use stealth to evade or silently eliminate threats.
- System Manipulation: Hacking elements allow Kita to disable enemy systems or open hidden paths.
- Companion Growth: Prince Eiji is not a passive escort; he grows alongside the player, unlocking new abilities that directly intervene in combat.
The Twitch Integration: Chat as the “Angel Guardian”
The most innovative feature of the game is its Live Twitch Integration. When Twitch mode is active, the stream connects directly to the game, allowing viewers to participate via chat:
- Support & Sabotage: Viewers can send ammo to help the player, spawn enemies to increase the challenge, or trigger Eiji’s special skills.
- Permanent Legacy: Streamers who participate in this mode are permanently recorded as part of the Altera universe. Rescued “Guardian NPCs” will feature custom portraits of the streamers, placing them directly into the space station’s lore.

Software Veterans Tackle Game Development
Corgee Inc. brings a background in software development—specializing in team collaboration and scalable workflows—to their first game project. While early playtests have praised the escort-driven narrative and unique visuals, the developers are currently refining the controller support and key mapping based on community feedback.
“The idea of turning the audience into a literal ‘Guardian’—or a saboteur—creates a unique dynamic where the streamer and the community build the story together.”
