Gamepia announced that it has revealed the Japanese voice cast for Team Tetrapod’s new mystery adventure game ‘Stepper Retro: Superpower Mystery Quest’ and has released an update to add voice acting to the Steam demo of the first episode of the game, which is scheduled for release on July 23.
The Stepper series is an original mystery game series by Team Tetrapod set in a world where superpowers exist. The new title, Stepper Retro, centers on the story of a girl named Verita Retro who begins to track down the “hidden side of the world related to superpowers” following a specific incident. The game is expected to feature illustrations rendered in Spine animation, over 30 hours of gameplay, and more than 100 clues.
The Japanese voice cast for this work is also impressive. Saho Shirasu participated as the protagonist Verita Retro, and Saki Fujita was cast as Vero Retro. Additionally, Reina Kawamura participated as Jad Bering, a character from the previous work ‘Stepper Case’, Tarusuke Shingaki as Caucasian Brian, and Yumi Hara as Pandoria Redfins.
This demo version, featuring Japanese voiceovers, is scheduled to be showcased simultaneously at ‘2026 PlayX4’ held at KINTEX in Ilsan and ‘2026 BitSummit Punch’ held at Miyako Messe in Kyoto, Japan.
Meanwhile, Team Tetrapod is currently conducting crowdfunding in Korea and Japan. The domestic Tumblbug funding begins at 3:00 PM on May 7, and it is reported that the number of backers who have reserved for the open run has exceeded 500 during the pre-notification application phase. With the pre-funding amount also surpassing 28 million won, attention is focused on whether it can surpass the performance of the previous project.
Various goods will be provided as funding rewards, including a music box, a hardcover art book of the ‘Stepper’ series with new content, two types of acrylic keyrings, and layer paper art.
In addition, if the final stretch goal of 240 million won is achieved, there are plans to distribute the next work for free and provide Korean dubbing. As plans to include Japanese dubbing for side stories were also announced during the Japanese crowdfunding campaign, this is interpreted as a strategy targeting both the Korean and Japanese markets simultaneously.
Team Tetrapod stated, “Based on the fanbases established in Korea and Japan, we are continuing development and operations that consider both markets simultaneously,” adding, “We hope this endeavor will become one of the examples of indie game developers expanding overseas in the future.” They further added that a demo version of the Nintendo Switch package version, currently available for pre-order, will be released soon.
You can find more detailed information about the game on the Steam store page.
