Origami-inspired 3D Platformer ‘Origarment’ Officially Released on Steam

    By Editorial Team2026년 04월 07일Updated:2026년 04월 09일5 Mins Read
    • An emotional healing adventure platformer where you travel the world as a letter with a soul.
    • Developed by Sweden’s Space Sauce Studio… Officially launching on Steam PC on April 7, 2026

Swedish indie studio Space Sauce Studio and German indie publisher Assemble Entertainment officially released the new healing adventure game ‘Origament: A Paper Adventure’ on Steam on April 7.

The game is an emotional adventure game that depicts the journey of becoming a ‘paper letter’ imbued with a soul to reach a recipient waiting across the sea. You can experience both healing and challenge while exploring an intricately crafted paper world, ranging from the rooftops of Venice to tornadoes in the wilderness; depending on the situation, you must fold your body into various forms, such as a paper boat or paper airplane, to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles.

A special letter that escaped from the archives of memory

The story begins at the ‘Archive of Memory.’ One night, a special letter awakens amidst countless others. No one remembers who wrote it, but it contained an inexplicable, flame-like determination.

Due to a temporal rift that occurred that night, the letter escapes the archive and begins a journey of its own free will. Toward a recipient who is still waiting somewhere, the letter embarks on a long journey traversing time and space.

Transformation is the Way… The Core of Puzzles and Exploration

The core of the game is the transformation system. Players can transform into a paper boat floating down a calm stream, a paper airplane flying over the rooftops of Venice, a ball of paper rolling in a hidden corner, or a paper shuriken soaring through the air to reach a new perspective.

Transformation is not merely a change in appearance; it grants unique physical properties and abilities that alter movement methods and puzzle-solving strategies entirely. There are no combat elements; instead, the core gameplay experience revolves around observing and understanding the environment and puzzles.

The levels are designed like independent dioramas filled with unique characters, emotional puzzles, and hidden secrets. They capture various eras and atmospheres, ranging from the rooftops of Venice to sweet Japanese forests, wild jungles, and the wilderness of the West.

Comfort and sentiment, likened to ‘digital chamomile tea’ in some media

The game generally aims for a calm and warm atmosphere. It is characterized by providing a comfortable yet subtle sense of immersion, to the extent that some media outlets have likened the work to “digital chamomile tea.” Additionally, the transformation mechanic is receiving positive reviews for serving not merely as a cute gimmick, but as a key to the puzzles and a movement system.

The Steam store tags include ‘Atmospheric’, ‘Wholesome’, ‘Emotional’, and ‘Relaxing’ side by side. The game was built using the Unreal Engine, and the development team completed performance optimization during the demo update process to ensure it runs smoothly even on low-spec PCs.

The visuals feature a unique aesthetic combining a cozy low-poly feel with paper textures. It oscillates between diverse atmospheres, ranging from tranquil gardens to rugged natural environments, naturally interweaving the rhythms of exploration and emotion. Some sections are calm and meditative, while others convey tension through dynamic movement.

10 years of ideas, into a single work

Space Sauce is a small indie studio founded in 2018, stemming from the passion of a solo 3D artist. Before creating their own games, the studio spent several years handling 3D art work for AAA titles, mastering pipelines, technology, and efficient production methods.

The development team first conceived the idea for the game about 10 years ago. Starting with a simple paper boat, the idea evolved over time into a polished adventure platformer.

The game was handled by the German indie publisher Assemble Entertainment. The development team stated, “We are still a small team obsessing over every origami, texture, and hidden path, but thanks to the publisher’s support, we were able to bring the Origament adventure we had always imagined to life.”

“A game that sparks curiosity”… Positive reactions continue

Overseas media outlets are paying attention to the game’s calm atmosphere and design. Its strengths are cited as a structure where puzzles and exploration naturally guide the player rather than pressuring them, and distinctive visuals that are not excessive. Additionally, it is evaluated that the satisfaction derived from discovering new paths without combat or danger acts as the core fun of the game.

The development team is also actively communicating with players within the Steam community, maintaining lively exchanges such as asking for opinions on cultures or backgrounds they would like to explore in the future.

The game is scheduled to expand to console platforms such as PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S in the future, and a free demo is currently available on Steam.
