823% funding success rate, multiple event selections… A differentiation strategy incorporating Korean elements draws attention.
Global game publisher CFK (CEO Koo Chang-sik) is raising expectations by revealing new game features for its new deck-building rogue-lite game ‘DeckLand’ on the 29th.
‘Deckland’, developed by domestic indie game company Jellysnow, has been recognized for its playability through various events such as being selected for PlayX4 2024 Indie Arcade, Gyeonggi Game Audition TOP12, and Indie Craft TOP50. In particular, it received a lot of attention by recording achievement rates of 159% and 823% in the two Tumblbug funding rounds conducted up until last year.
An adventure that begins with a constellation, where your choices determine your destiny.
The most unique feature of “Deckland” is its stage selection system, which begins with a constellation in the night sky. Players must choose the stage that best suits their situation from a variety of options. There are areas of trial, filled with deadly traps, and rest areas for reorganization. Guided by the unpredictable starlight, the choices you make will determine the course of your adventure.
One stage takes place inside the stomach of the giant monster, “Gwisusan.” Featuring a hot lava theme, the protagonists, “Rang” and “Lilith,” must escape safely before the mountain’s stomach acid boils over. Positioning on the tiles is crucial for a quick escape.
Fierce battles with bosses from Eastern mythology
‘Deckland’ features a large number of powerful bosses and elite monsters based on Eastern and Korean mythology.
One of the bosses, Chiu, is a powerful tiger-shaped monster inspired by the “God of War” of Eastern mythology. He is characterized by the ferocity of a tiger and the overwhelming aura of intimidation felt throughout his entire body.
The elite monster “Gangcheol-i” is inspired by a fire-breathing monster from Korean mythology. It boasts a seemingly impenetrable toughness and overwhelming size. Strategic deck management is essential to defeating them.
Strategic depth unfolds through card synthesis and assimilation.
The game features unique features, incorporating deck-building and rogue-lite elements with an Eastern sensibility. A card synthesis system allows players to combine cards to create combos, and oral traditions and fairy tales allow players to experience a variety of choices that influence their gameplay.
Additionally, we implemented a variety of achievement systems, from defeating major monsters to collecting materials and achieving specific situational conditions, to increase player immersion.
Conquering the global market with differentiated oriental fantasy
“Deckland” differentiates itself from the Western fantasy-dominated deck-building roguelite genre by incorporating the fresh theme of Eastern mythology. Two successful crowdfunding campaigns and repeated selections at major domestic indie game events demonstrate that this approach is being positively received by gamers.
Gamers embark on an adventure with the protagonist, battling monsters, and craft their own unique story through strategic choices at every moment. Guided by the constellations, the choices they make on this unknown path, and the consequences they will face, are entirely up to the gamer.
Deckland is currently available for wishlisting on Steam, with a demo version available to preview the game’s core gameplay. The official release date and additional information will be announced by CFK and JellySnow.
