Urban Game Culture Festival “GXG 2025” Opens September 19 in Pangyo

    By Editorial Team2025년 09월 17일Updated:2025년 09월 18일3 Mins Read

Seongnam, South Korea – September 17, 2025 – The city of Seongnam (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) announced that the Game Culture Festival “GXG 2025 (Game culture X Generation 2025)” will take place on September 19–20 at Pangyo Station Plaza. Hosted by Seongnam City and organized by the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency and the Game Culture Foundation, GXG has become the largest urban game culture festival in Korea, bringing together industry professionals, gamers, and citizens in a city-center celebration.

Expanded Programs: Play, Art, and Collaboration

This year’s theme programs include “THE PLAY” (interactive experiences) and “THE ART” (exhibitions), blending participation from global publishers, local companies, university students, and youth creators. The GXG Collaboration Zone—featuring IndieCraft, Illustar Fest, Seongnam Youth Flea Market, and GV2025—broadens the festival’s diversity. The 2025 edition expands its footprint by an additional block compared to last year, ensuring more space and richer activities for visitors.

    Highlights Across Pangyo Station

    • Central Plaza: Visitors are greeted by a Zenless Zone Zero experience zone recreating the futuristic “New Eridu” city, complete with game demos, a message wall, and a Bangboo photo zone. Microsoft showcases Copilot AI, while SYLO offers hands-on demos of its new mobile game. Clouded Leopard Entertainment Korea presents Trails in the Sky the 1st, and Red Printing offers personalized, custom product workshops.
    • North Plaza A: Supercell Town welcomes fans of Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars with gameplay stations, quizzes, and prizes. Other booths include audio dubbing and game sound production studios, accessibility-focused gaming devices from Smilegate, themed energy drinks (Red Potion by Gulttuk Puppy), wellness check-ups with custom photocard printing, and family board game sessions.
    • North Plaza B: The Play Lounge features console games, including NBA 2K26, WWE 2K25, and Top Spin 2K25. A “Cool Station” relaxation zone, supported by Dong-A Otsuka, offers beverages and live busking performances by local bands. The GXG Theater screens user-created fan movies twice daily, with special giveaways for attendees.

Indoor Venues: Art, Arcade, and Market

    • GXG Artbook Lounge (TechOne, 1F): Visitors can browse curated books on game design, animation, and product design in collaboration with Hanlimsa.
    • GXG Campus Arcade (TechOne, 2F): Student-developed games are on display.
    • GXG Goods for Good Market: A charity-oriented marketplace offering discounted official merchandise and artbooks, with proceeds supporting donations.

Indie Games, Art Market, and Youth Programs

Through GXG collaborations, attendees can enjoy 70 indie games showcased by IndieCraft, a 52-team creators’ market organized with Illustar Fest, and live DJ/connect stage programs. The central plaza will also host the Seongnam Youth Flea Market, while GV2025 provides career exploration programs for young people at the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.

    Music, Competitions, and Community

On the main stage (Central Plaza) and sub stage (North Plaza B), programs include the GXG Soundtrack game music contest, busking sessions, and more. A full schedule of events is available on the official GXG website.

The GXG Organizing Office stated, “We hope GXG 2025 will be a special time for citizens to rediscover the cultural and artistic value of games. With only days left, preparations are in full swing to ensure a vibrant festival experience.”
