Korea Indie Game Association, Business Partnership with Indie Game IP Platform ‘Witzshop’

        By Editorial Team2025년 02월 28일2 Mins Read

        ○ Anyone can easily sign a license contract for domestic indie game IP through the relay platform ‘Witzshop’
        ○ IP platform where game copyrights, resources, and programming (source code) can be traded at once

The Korea Indie Game Association (KIGS) and content IP licensing platform ‘Wits Shop’ announced that they have signed a strategic collaboration and will expand their business by initiating the first game IP licensing brokerage transaction in Korea.

Through this collaboration, indie game developers will have the opportunity to more easily register, distribute, and generate additional revenue for the game IPs they create, while businesses seeking licensing will be able to efficiently secure verified indie game IPs.

Until now, game IPs have been considered the exclusive assets of large game companies, and there has been a high barrier to entry for individual indie game developers. To solve this problem, ‘Witzshop’ is cooperating with the Korea Indie Game Association to build an environment where indie game developers can more easily register, distribute, and utilize their creations. Witzshop has enabled various IP licensing transactions such as characters, webtoons, and broadcast content, and has become the first in Korea to support game IP transactions.

Witz is a company founded by co-CEOs who are lawyers and patent attorneys, and operates the IP licensing easy transaction platform ‘Witz Shop’, simplifying complex licensing procedures. Through this collaboration, Witz Shop has opened an all-in-one game IP-only store where you can trade not only simple game IP images and characters, but also source codes, game resources, and licensing rights.

In addition, we will strengthen legal protection and standard contract support to create a safe transaction environment and provide various benefits such as fee discounts for association members to support game IP holders to proceed with licensing more quickly and smoothly. In particular, we will establish a technical support system that takes into account the different source code and resource characteristics of each developer to ensure stable transactions.

Witzshop and the Korea Indie Game Association announced that they plan to continue to work together to secure more IPs and create a transaction environment that satisfies both developers and companies.
