Busan Metropolitan City, the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency, and the Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee are holding the 4th term of BIC’s official indie game fandom ‘Big Connectors’, which will jointly create the 10th Busan Indie Connect Festival (hereinafter referred to as BIC Festival), from April 22 to May. Recruitment until the 17th.
‘Big Connectors’, in its 4th year this year, is a compound word of BIC Festival and Connectors and has played a vital role in connecting BIC Festival, indie game developers, and gamers. The 4th Big Connectors will be active in various fields for the BIC Festival exhibition, such as ▲selecting Connect Pick exhibits ▲voting for selection of awards (general and rookie categories) ▲pre-playing and writing reviews of exhibits during the Demo Day period.
In particular, the BIC organizing committee announced that it plans to strengthen the benefits of ‘Big Connectors’ activities for the successful hosting of the 10th BIC Festival. To encourage cultural and artistic activities in Busan, Big Connectors who participate in offline festivals will be given a small activity fee benefit. Activity fee support is limited to excellent offline activity plan writers or groups of 4 or less and will be selected separately after recruiting Big Connectors.
In addition, a new lounge dedicated to Big Connectors will be operated in the offline exhibition hall, which will be used as a place for unlimited gameplay, networking, and relaxation. It will provide benefits such as payment of activity items and publication of Connect Pick selected reviews in festival promotional materials. We plan to promote a sense of belonging and pride among Big Connectors.
The recruitment period for the 4th Big Connectors is until 6 PM on May 17th, and anyone over 14 who loves indie games can apply (excluding those who applied for the 10th BIC Festival indie games). The 4th generation of Big Connectors is scheduled to be active online and offline for about three months until August, starting with orientation at the end of May.
One Big Connector who was active last year said, “It was beneficial to communicate with game developers I liked and hear behind-the-scenes stories about the development process.” He added, “I hope one day I will be able to exhibit the games I developed myself at BIC.”
Seo Tae-geon, chairman of the BIC organizing committee, said, “Big Connectors is BIC’s main partner that helps us look at the indie game industry from the public’s perspective,” and added, “We hope for the support of those who love the BIC Festival and indie games.”
Meanwhile, the 10th BIC Festival will be held as a three-day offline festival in Hall 1 of BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 in Busan from Friday, August 16th, to Sunday, August 18th, and will be held a week earlier, from Friday, August 9th, to August 8th. The online festival will run until the 30th of every month (Friday).
