The setting is the space station ‘Altera,’ whose systems have collapsed due to an unidentified attack. The contrast between the dark interior corridors and the vast expanse of space, combined with urgent music, creates an atmosphere of extreme tension. While the game is based on a traditional ‘run-and-gun’ structure that combines fast combat with platforming, It combines combat design inspired by Mega Man with a narrative reminiscent of ICO.
