    Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency announces the Seongnam Global Indie Game Contest results.

    Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency and Korea Mobile Game Association recently announced the ‘Seongnam Global Indie Game Contest (Indiecraft) results, which provides global expansion support, commercialization funding, customized mentoring, and networking for small and medium-sized indie game developers.

    The Seongnam Global Indie Game Contest is Korea’s representative indie game event held yearly in Seongnam, starting with the first event in 2019. ‘2023 Indiecraft, The Festa’, held for two days from May 31st to June 1st, provided support for existing small and medium-sized indie game developers and a ‘Challenger’ section that selected promising works for college student developers. It was established to expand the scope of opportunities to challenge indie game development.

    With the number of participants increasing yearly, this event selected 89 excellent works out of 292 domestic and foreign participants. Twenty-two experts provided mentoring and lectures on marketing, development, investment, and global expansion with the participants and provided financial support for commercialization and overseas expansion. We provide a stable development environment, including solutions.

    This year, we achieved particularly notable results. A total of 46 games were released, generating sales of KRW 3.8 billion domestically and internationally, creating 39 new jobs at 11 participating developers, and demonstrating an effect of approximately KRW 3.2 billion through 9 investment and cloud outcomes. It has established itself as an event that supports indie game developers in name and reality.

    In addition, at the ‘Game Culture Festival (GXG) 2023’ held at Pangyo Station from September 8th to 9th, an experience space was prepared to experience the works submitted by Indiecraft, giving participating visitors a chance to experience the novelty and completeness of the results. He showed off his back.

    Director Jeong Dong-chang of the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency said, “We will establish ourselves as Korea’s representative indie game event by expanding support opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses and development talent and providing opportunities to experience various game cultures.”

    Hwang Seong-ik, Chairman of the Korea Mobile Game Association, said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to work further to develop Korea’s small and medium-sized game industry. As I am in this position to represent small and medium-sized indie game developers, I will do my best to convey the voices of the game industry.”
