Neowiz (co-representatives Seungcheol Kim, Taegeun Bae) signed a publishing contract with the global entertainment streaming service Netflix for the mobile game ‘Cat and Soup’. With this, Cat and Soup became the first Korean game to be enjoyed on Netflix.
‘Cat and Soup’, developed by Heidier, a subsidiary of Neowiz, is a healing mobile idle game that has been steadily popular with cumulative downloads exceeding 27 million within a year of its release.
Through this contract, Neowiz is expected to meet with Netflix members around the world, increase game competitiveness in the global market, and secure new growth engines. The two companies further plan to introduce Neowiz’s various games to Netflix through this partnership.
The Netflix launch schedule for ‘Cat and Soup’ will be held in November, and it will provide a service differentiated from the existing in-game by eliminating in-game advertisements and in-app purchases. Neowiz is in charge of game updates, maintenance and repair, and Netflix is in charge of global publishing.
Meanwhile, Netflix is introducing a variety of content from series, movies, documentaries to mobile games to provide the best entertainment experience only available on Netflix. Recently, the company is actively expanding its game portfolio, such as cooperating with French developer Ubisoft.
