The ‘Indie U’ Indie Game Contest award ceremony and side events were held at the Daejeon Esports Stadium auxiliary stadium on the 10th.
In addition to the Daejeon Culture Industry Promotion Agency, ‘Indie U,’ a joint indie game event in the Chungcheong region, accepted entries for the Chungcheong region game IndieU contest from the 25th to the 31st through the Global Game Center operated by the Daejeon Culture Industry Promotion Agency. Officials from the Korea Industry Promotion Agency, the Cheongju Cultural Industry Promotion Foundation, and Chungcheong’s indie game development teams came together to make it a meaningful event that showed the enthusiasm of Chungcheong’s indie scene.
This contest plans to create a game development environment and discover local original games with total prize money of 20 million won. The contest game categories were conducted in three fields: mobile, PC, and VR, and the developer must live or attend school in the Chungcheong area. This event was held to foster indie artists in the Chungcheong region through restrictions on who can qualify for entry.
The Grand Prize and Popularity Award for the general division went to ‘BUDDY LAND’ by the Hoseo University team, the Excellence Award went to ‘Janwol’ by the crew, and the Encouragement Award went to ‘Coloring Story’ by the club, making it an indie game in the Chungcheong region. It once again proved its potential for development.
In particular, at this awards ceremony, in addition to the exhibition of the winning works and cultural performances, one specific lecture program for indie game developers by Professor ‘Musik Jung’ of Gachon University’s Department of Game and Media was organized, which received a great response from the participants.
