Gyeonggi-do announced on the 29th that it would recruit participants for the ’18th Gyeonggi Game Audition’ to discover and nurture star game content by the 4th of next month.
Hosted by Gyeonggi-do and supervised by Gyeonggi Content Agency, this audition recruits participants nationwide, and anyone who can plan and develop games can participate. Games to be submitted must be able to submit executable files (test builds) before the first audition and must be in at least the development completion stage in the first half of 2024.
The province plans to hold the first audition in mid-April for 20 or so games that have passed the document screening and select 10 games (TOP10) to advance to the final audition. The final audition to determine the final ranking will be held on May 12th at KINTEX Play Expo (PlayX4) in Ilsan.
The final audition screening is conducted in the form of ‘speed dating’ in which the judges, who are composed of experts and general users in various fields such as game development, graphics, investment, and distribution platforms, take turns talking. Through this, participants can receive expert advice (mentoring) and feedback from general users on game development and release.
If 10 games (TOP10) are selected to advance to the final audition, ▲ total prize money of 190 million won, including a maximum of 40 million won, and a minimum of 10 million won, ▲ follow-up support programs such as quality assurance (QA), sound, video, translation, and marketing ▲Various supports from audition partners are given, and additional benefits are given to the top 5 games ▲additional points for moving into Gyeonggi Global Game Center in Pangyo.
Major support items for partners include ‘Akamai’ content delivery network service, ‘Amazon Web Services (AWS)’ cloud server rental, ‘back end’ game server rental service, NHN Gamebase server, and ‘One Store’ game launch Marketing, Thinking Data game analysis service support, etc.
In particular, this year’s audition will be operated in conjunction with PlayX4, the largest game show in the metropolitan area, with more than 200 game companies participating. Through this, it is expected that participating companies’ games will be widely disclosed to the general public from related companies to provide an opportunity to collect opinions and promote publicity before launch.
Choi Hye-min-do, head of the Digital Innovation Department, said, “I hope that this audition will serve as an opportunity to discover competitive games and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy with the effect of starting a company and increasing corporate sales.”
