On the 26th (Thursday), the indie game platform ‘Stove Indie,’ operated by Smilegate Stove, released an infographic containing the footsteps of 2022, when it grew rapidly.

Stove Indie, which entered its fourth year of service this year, is the only indie game platform operated by a domestic game company. Stove Indie supports everything from game production, distribution, promotion, mentoring in the early stages of game development to marketing after game completion, and is receiving favorable reviews from the industry for serving as a strong support and role for indie games.

Stove Indie has released a record of 2022 years of continuous running from starting as a new platform to receiving favorable reviews as a companion of indie games in the form of an infographic.

Thanks to the cooperation between Stove Indie and indie game developers, Stove Indie showed a growth of more than 150% in 2022 in terms of annual releases, sales, play users, and playtime compared to the previous year. In particular, playtime increased by 1,360% compared to the previous year, indicating that more users are enjoying the game on Stove Indie for a longer period of time.

Stove Indie supports all aspects of the administrative process for review so that indie game developers can focus only on game development. Through this, a total of 268 games were supported for deliberation by Stove Indie in 2022 alone. In addition, Stove Indie supported active marketing through 44 events and 49 types of Stove original goods produced during the year.

Stove Indie more than quadrupled the amount of indirect support for creators through coupons compared to the previous year and promoted the entry more actively. A total of 5.6 million coupons are registered annually through Stove Indie’s various promotions and events. If you make them into paper stream coupons and line them up, they will reach the length of the Korean Peninsula.

In particular, through mutual consultations with several developers, Stove Indie compensated for the lowered profits through the coupon discount rate and indirectly supported them so that developers working with Stove Indie could make more profits so that they could continue their creative activities. They provided these coupons to the developer and helped them carry out their own promotion.

Stove Indie gained popularity by presenting a more immersive gameplay by introducing various popular overseas indie games in Korea. Stove Indie has a total of 68 Korean-language games. 99 user translators worked with the translation work, and only 12.7 million characters were translated, which is more than Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, and the Prince game series combined. Text RPG ‘The Life and Tribulations of Sir Brante,’ the title with the most translations with 2.33 million characters, has become one of Stove Indie’s most popular games.

In addition, through the infographic, Stove Indie also revealed creator support programs expanded in 2022, such as ‘wise demo life’ and ‘funding pack,’ and support for indie festivals such as the ‘2022 Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC)’.
