Gamescom 2022, Europe’s largest game show, will be held offline in Cologne, Germany for the first time in three years in August.

Gamescom, which will be held for 5 days from August 24 to 28, started recruiting exhibitors from last April, and has already reserved more than 80% of the booth area compared to 2019.

According to Gamescom, 250 leading companies in the global game-related software and hardware industry have already completed the application, and it is known that the best companies in the industry such as Samsung Display, Neowiz, and Line Games have applied in Korea.

In addition, the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) is planning to operate a large-scale Korean pavilion. In addition to the Korean Pavilion, a total of 16 national pavilions including the US Pavilion, Australia Pavilion, Japan Pavilion, and various European national pavilions are in operation.

▲ Opening Night Live (ONL)

One of Gamescom’s most iconic events is its opening show, Opening Night Live (ONL). As an event introducing more than 30 industry-anticipated works, as of 2021, 6 million people watched it through live streaming. Geoff Keighley, the creator and host of The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest, is the host of ONL.

▲ Gamescom Studio

At Gamescom Studio, various programs are broadcast in real time during the exhibition period, from demonstration videos of the latest promising works such as the indie game show Awesome Indies Show, to demos, news, and interviews. In 2021, through the Awesome Indies Show, Michael Swame of the American game webzine IGN introduced more than 40 anticipated indie games, and various programs including the show are scheduled to be held this year as well.

ESL E-Sports Tournament

The e-sports tournament of ESL Gaming, a world-class e-sports game company, will be held at the event arena in the Gamescom exhibition hall again this year. Details will be announced on the Gamescom official website at a later date.

▲ Various community zones

From indie games and retro game zones to Family & Friends and Costume Village, the Gamescom exhibition hall is divided into zones with various themes.

From June 11th, Germany will be able to enter the country freely without any additional corona proof documents.

After purchasing the ticket online, you can prove it through the Gamescom app when entering the exhibition hall. An online ticket shop is now open, allowing both B2B trade visitor admission tickets and B2C general visitor admission tickets to be purchased.
