• Indie developer Type-Ten’s new title receives rave reviews from the itch.io demo community
  • The perfect trifecta of timing-based mining + drone automation + Prestige System

Indie developer Type-Ten’s mining incremental game ‘ Fracture Field was officially released on Steam on April 20, 2026.

Co-published by Gamersky Games and Drillhounds, this title features a combination of a timing-based mining system, drone automation, and a Prestige structure to provide strategic gameplay that goes beyond simple clicking. It has been expanded into an official version with enhanced quality based on user feedback gathered from the itch.io demo.

An industrial empire that begins with the heavy impact of a single stone

Fracture Field begins with ‘a single stone and the heavy sound of the first swing.’ The player is not a mere miner, but an architect designing a massive industrial empire. The core of the game is a timing-based swing mechanism; striking the stone at the precise moment allows you to acquire more resources. As you break through layers such as Stone, Clay, and Sandstone, increasingly hard and valuable veins of rare minerals and gems are revealed.

The differentiating point is that it goes beyond simply clicking; you must also consider bomb-throwing timing and zone clearing strategies to efficiently utilize the limited quarry space.

Pixel art and a clean UI… Small yet dense visuals

The game is created in a 2D top-down pixel art style. Different colors and textures are applied to each layer, allowing you to track mining progress at a glance. The movement of drones autonomously moving across the quarry to break stones also adds to the visual appeal.

The UI also stands out for its simple and organized layout. You can neatly view hundreds of upgrade items. The overall atmosphere of the game is casual and comfortable, yet it is structured to require strategic consideration depending on your choices.

Growth structure expanding into drones and Prestige

The growth structure of Fracture Field is composed of three axes. The first is the upgrade economy. Players build specialized engines by investing the universal currency ‘Dust’ into core stats such as Fracture, Pierce, and Hit Speed, or by pouring resources obtained from each layer into upgrades exclusive to that layer.

The second is the Drone Hub. You can automate the quarry by designing and forming squadrons of various drones, ranging from Shatter Drones responsible for area attacks to Collector Drones that automatically gather resources. Each drone has a unique upgrade path, allowing them to be operated in diverse ways depending on the player’s strategy.

The third is the World Fracture Prestige System. When growth reaches its limit, you can reset all operations and acquire a permanent currency called ‘Core Fragments.’ Investing Core Fragments in a permanent upgrade tree unlocks the next stage in a completely different way. There is also a second Prestige layer called ‘Reality Shatter,’ which takes things a step further.

The itch.io community’s response and active communication with developers

The demo, first released on itch.io, received a positive response, recording a rating of 4.3 out of 5 (based on 19 reviews). The community praised the novelty of timing-based mining and the clean UI. On the other hand, there were also consistent criticisms that the initial performance of the drones was too weak and that the speed of later layer progression was slow.

A notable point is that developer Type-Ten has personally and quickly responded to all bug reports and feedback from the itch.io community, releasing multiple updates. Several updates were released in the month of August 2025 alone, including the Drone Hub update (v0.4.0), major Prestige and balancing updates, and bug fix patches.
