• Combining Pinball Action, Roguelite, and Retro-Future Vibes… Rebound CG Releases Free Steam Demo
  • Tennis Manager Developer Makes Major Genre Shift: New Action Title Featuring Ball and Rebound DNA
  • Tarantino-style aesthetics of violence and disco-funk sound, an action roguelite with a 70s B-movie vibe

There is only one ball. But the story changes if that ball can bounce off walls and bumpers and instantly obliterate hordes of enemies. Furyball: Rogue Revenge, an action roguelite currently under development by Angoulême-based game studio Rebound CG, has released a free Steam demo.

Furyball: Rogue Revenge is the 10th title from Rebound CG, the creators of the sports management game ‘Tennis Manager’ series and co-developers of ‘TopSpin 2K25’ with 2K Sports. Although the developer, known for sports management games, has shifted genres to an intense action roguelite, it has retained the studio’s signature ‘ball’ and ‘rebound’ philosophies.

A neon wasteland with 70s grindhouse vibes… A modern reinterpretation of ‘Akira’ and ‘Fist of the North Star’

Furyball: Rogue Revenge is a hardcore action odyssey set in the desolate retrofuturistic world of Neo Arcadia.

The visual style pays a strong homage to the B-movie aesthetic of the 70s and the Grindhouse aesthetic. It reinterprets the rough and exaggerated sensibilities seen in *Mad Max*, *Rollerball*, *Akira*, and *Fist of the North Star* into modern game visuals. The blood-red splatter, exaggerated depictions of violence, and the atmosphere of a neon-lit wasteland city leave a powerful impression.

The soundtrack consists of original disco funk music by French artist The Toxic Avenger. The sensation of the rapidly bouncing ball colliding with continuous rebound combos intertwines with the disco funk beat to create a unique rhythmic feel for the arcade action.

Each combat zone in the game is designed like a pinball machine. Bumpers, ramps, various traps, and obstacles are placed throughout, and both enemies and the environment react to the movement of the ball fired by the player.

Aim, bounce, and destroy… The birth of the world’s first “Log Beat ‘M Ball’ genre”

Rebound CG introduces ‘Furyball: Rogue Revenge’ as the “world’s first Rogue Beat ’em Ball” genre.

Combat revolves around a ‘Furyball’ that follows the laws of physics. Players must eliminate enemies by accurately launching the ball, utilizing walls and environmental elements to bounce it, and triggering chain reactions. The gameplay structure emphasizes positioning and movement management just as much as simple aiming skills.

The roguelike system also adds to the fun. Players can equip various modules in every run to give the ball special effects. By combining attribute effects such as Burn, Bleed, and Destruction, it is possible to create powerful synergy builds that can sweep through all enemies on the screen with just a single volley.

The battlefield, directly inspired by pinball tables, also acts as a variable. Bumpers, ramps, and various hazard devices can serve as weapons that amplify the player’s attacks, but conversely, they can also be fatal elements that end the stage in an instant.

The currently released demo includes the protagonist Azami, the Furyball and Blade weapon systems, the first area of Neo Arcadia, the first gang faction ‘Madbull Warriors’, various module builds, a training mode, three difficulty levels, and boss battle content.

Revealed by IGN · Scheduled to participate in Steam Next Fest… Development process refined by player feedback

Furyball: Rogue Revenge was first unveiled at the ‘Games Made in France 2026’ showcase held last April. Since then, the game has been continuously improved by incorporating user feedback through an open playtest on Steam.

The gameplay reveal trailer was exclusively unveiled by IGN, and on the day of the demo’s release, it was also introduced as a major title at the ‘ActuGaming French Direct 2026’ showcase. It is also scheduled to participate in ‘Steam Next Fest 2026’ this coming June.

The reactions from international media are also noteworthy. IndieGame.com highlighted Rebound CG’s bold genre shift and unique action structure, describing it as “a game that feels like Akira meeting pinball.” Games Press noted the development approach that actively incorporates player feedback, stating, “This game goes beyond simply playing; it makes players feel like they participated in shaping the development process.”

From sports management to action roguelike… Rebound CG’s bold transformation

Rebound CG, a 15-person French studio founded in 2017, is a developer that has steadily made a name for itself in the sports game sector. It has established itself in the management simulation genre with its self-published ‘Tennis Manager’ franchise and recently participated in the co-development of ‘TopSpin 2K25’.

Furyball: Rogue Revenge is Rebound CG’s first project to venture into the full-scale action roguelite genre. However, it is evaluated as a work that holds significance beyond a simple genre change, in that it extends the studio’s unique design DNA—namely ‘ball,’ ‘reflection,’ and ‘trajectory’—into the grammar of action games.

today Furyball: Rogue Revenge is available for a free demo on PC Steam, and development is underway with a target release date of 2026. Many gamers are watching to see if this unique experiment, which combines pinball, roguelite, and retrofuturistic action, can establish itself as a new subgenre of indie action.
