• Public-private delegations including the Game Culture Foundation, Korea Content Agency, and Game Rating and Administration Committee strengthen Korea-Vietnam cooperation in the gaming sector in Ho Chi Minh City
  • Signing of a Letter of Intent regarding the Integrated Korean Game Promotion Pavilion, local youth literacy education, indie game exchange seminars, and game talent development

A joint public-private Korean game delegation, including the Game Culture Foundation (Chairman Yoo Byung-han), participated in ‘Vietnam GameVerse 2026,’ Vietnam’s largest game show held at the Ho Chi Minh Convention Center (SECC) from May 8 to 9, together with the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam (Director Park Chan-ah), opening new horizons for game industry and cultural exchange between the two countries.

This visit was made as a follow-up to the MOU on game industry cooperation between Korea (Game Culture Foundation, Game Rating and Administration Committee) and Vietnam (Directorate of Radio, Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) signed last year, and the MOU on cultural cooperation signed during President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit to Vietnam last April.

On May 7, the Korean delegation held a meeting between government and agencies with key Vietnamese officials, including Le Quang Tu Do, Director General of the Radio, Broadcasting and Electronic Information Authority (ABEI) under the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Tourism. At the meeting, the two countries held in-depth discussions on fostering game talent and industrial cooperation, while reaffirming their commitment to mutual cooperation.

In particular, at the ‘Korea-Vietnam Indie Game Seminar’ held on the 8th, game developers and studio representatives from both countries gathered to explore cooperation measures to revitalize the indie game ecosystem. Beginning with a congratulatory speech by Yoo Byung-han, Chairman of the Game Culture Foundation, the event featured a presentation on Korean indie game promotion policies (Korea Content Agency), an introduction to Korean game policies (Game Rating and Administration Committee), and the sharing of success stories by domestic developers, receiving an enthusiastic response from local attendees.

At the ‘K-Game Culture Promotion Integrated Pavilion,’ five domestic small and medium-sized game companies, including Zerogram Co., Ltd. and Storytaco Co., Ltd., participated alongside the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, the Game Culture Foundation, and the Korea Content Agency to promote the excellence of K-games. In addition, ‘Youth Game Literacy Education’ was conducted for approximately 50 local youths and parents.

This training, conducted by Director Choi Jeong-ho of the Kind Teacher Jeong-ho Psychological Counseling Research Institute, focused on preventing game over-immersion and providing guidance on proper game usage, and contributed to the spread of a healthy gaming culture through a ‘game activity sheet completion ceremony’ in which families participated together.

During the event, the Korean delegation strengthened friendly relations by holding a series of networking events with officials from local game policy authorities and major game companies, including the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, VTC Corporation, and VNG. In particular, this participation was highly praised for presenting a comprehensive cooperation model encompassing game-related policy, education, and business, going beyond mere exhibition participation.

Yoo Byung-han, Chairman of the Game Culture Foundation, stated, “Participating in the Vietnam Game Bus was a highly meaningful time that demonstrated that the two countries are not only industrial and cultural strategic partners but also share a core relationship through the medium of games.” He added, “We will provide support to ensure close cooperation with the government and relevant agencies to implement the cultural cooperation agreement signed during President Lee Jae-myung’s visit to Vietnam last month.”
