Power Up Team, an indie game developer based in Bologna, Italy, released a free PC demo of its healing theme park-building game , Candy Luna Park, on Steam on March 6th. The official release is scheduled for sometime in 2026, and Steam Wishlist registration is currently available.
A theme park for total enjoyment… “No game overs, no time limits.”
The most striking feature of Candy Luna Park is its simplicity: it’s stress-free. There are no time limits, no failure screens, and no tension about management mistakes ruining everything. Players simply start with an empty lot and gradually expand their sweet theme park at their own pace.
The development team describes Candy Luna Park as “a quiet corner of the world where you can relax and unwind.” The goal was to make gameplay feel like a warm hug.
You can also collect resources yourself and manage your theme park meticulously. Alternatively, if you prefer a more leisurely experience, hire a cute helper character to help you gather resources and manage visitors, while you leisurely plan your next expansion.
From the Licorice Forest to the Marzipan Haunted House… 5 magical locations
Candy Luna Park features five magical terrains. Each new area is filled with delightful surprises, from wandering through a licorice forest to encountering a sweeter-than-scary marzipan haunted house. The core of the game is the process of gradually transforming a small open space into a sweet theme park kingdom by deploying dozens of rides and structures, including a sugar roller coaster and a marzipan haunted house.
The demo begins with a tutorial set in the game’s first biome. You’ll learn the basics of park construction and expansion, manage visitors, and experience the slow expansion of your sweet space. The demo is also notable for being one of the few titles to remain free after the end of Next Fest.
An indie studio born in Bologna, Italy
Power Up Team, the creator of Candy Luna Park, is an indie game developer founded in Bologna, Italy, in 2022. Operating under Rete Doc (Doc Network), Italy’s largest collaborative platform for creativity and culture, Power Up Team aims to create enjoyable, high-quality games by bringing together experts from various fields.
Power Up Team is a studio that specializes in not only game development, but also serious games for corporations, public institutions, and organizations, gamification solutions, 3D asset outsourcing, and metaverse-related projects. Despite the relatively small size of the Italian gaming industry within Western Europe, Power Up Team is committed to creative game development based in the cultural city of Bologna.
Another project, ‘Vespera Bononia’
In addition to Candy Luna Park, the development team is also developing Vespera Bononia, a dark fantasy action rogue-lite game set in medieval Bologna, which is scheduled for an official Steam release on March 13th.
Vespera Bononia is a game that recreates the real-life architecture of Bologna using 3D scans, transforming real landmarks such as basilicas, towers, and underground catacombs into surreal and eerie spaces.
The breadth of the Power Up team’s development is impressive, spanning two very different genres simultaneously: sweet theme park games and dark fantasy action.
The Candy Luna Park demo is available now for free on Steam. The full release is scheduled for sometime in 2026. Additional information and development updates can be found on the official website, X, YouTube, and Discord channels.
