A new work by Wazen K, a solo developer who participated in the development of Devil May Cry.
Amidst global anticipation, the wishlist surpasses 100,000 items, already drawing attention from action fans.

MIGHTREYA, an anime-style action game published by global game publisher 505 Games and developed by Japanese indie developer Wazen K, has confirmed its participation in Steam Next Fest starting on February 23rd and released a special demo version on the 12th.

‘Maitreya’ is a work that combines Japanese animation sensibility and authentic stylish action, and is already generating high expectations through word of mouth among global action game fans.

Stylish action with Devil May Cry DNA

Wazen K, a developer who worked on Capcom’s popular action game series “Devil May Cry,” previously demonstrated his capabilities as a solo developer with “Assault Spy.” “Maitreya,” which he has been painstakingly developing for years, is considered an ambitious project that combines his AAA game development experience with the experimental creativity characteristic of indie games.

A unique setting called ‘Hero Content Creator’

The game’s world is also unique. Players take on the role of high school superhero Leia and her manager Neo, embarking on a journey as “hero content creators” who transform hero activities into content.

Leia battles monsters that appear daily from different dimensions, and these battles are structured as a single content. Beyond simple hero action, the setting, which combines modern creator culture with hero narratives, further enhances the game’s unique character.

Intuitive yet deep, stylish combat

The core of “Maitreya” is its “stylish” aerial action, accessible to everyone yet expanding in depth with skill level. A simple camera-based lock-on system and button presses allow for spectacular, continuous attacks, while rapid strikes and seamless combo chaining create dynamic combat.

Gamers can combine three iconic weapons and over 30 unique actions and attacks to create their own unique combos. They face a variety of enemies, from small creatures to gigantic monsters, and battle scenes reminiscent of animated films are created, with enemies being hurled from the air and slammed into walls and floors.

Amidst global anticipation, the wishlist surpassed 100,000.

“Maitreya” recently surpassed 100,000 Steam Wishlist entries, demonstrating the anticipation of its global fanbase. Its theme song has also been added to major streaming services, and the game is attracting attention beyond its game.

The combination of Japanese anime-style visuals and traditional stylish action has garnered particular attention among fans of the “Devil May Cry” and “Bayonetta” series. The official release is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

“Is this really a one-person game?”… The demo version received favorable reviews.

Since the release of the demo, the Steam community has been receiving positive responses.

Users have left rave reviews, saying, “It’s hard to believe it was created by a single developer,” and “It has the kind of impact and tempo you’d expect from a Devil May Cry developer.” Some users praised the unique aerial combat feel, saying, “It reminds me of Gravity Rush.”

However, some feedback has been raised regarding the camera angle, and Wazen K is expressing his will to improve by directly collecting opinions through the official Discord.

Japanese voice support, officially released in the second quarter.

The newly released demo supports Japanese voice acting and reflects improvements across the entire gameplay experience. Furthermore, localization has been expanded to include French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Chinese, and Korean support is also included, ensuring that domestic users can enjoy the game without any difficulties.

The game is scheduled to be released for PC (Steam) in Q2 2026, and is currently available for wishlisting on the Steam page. A free trial is available during Steam Next Fest.

The possibility of ‘Maitreya’, a one-man development project that continues the tradition of authentic stylish action, meeting the expectations of global action game fans will be confirmed through the upcoming Steam Next Fest.
