Busan City and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (hereinafter referred to as the “Promotion Agency”) will hold a “2026 Busan Game Industry Promotion Support Project Briefing Session” for Busan region game companies and aspiring entrepreneurs at the 5th floor multi-purpose space of the Busan Cultural Contents Complex at 2:00 PM on the 24th.

The briefing session will reveal the scale of support, which has been significantly expanded compared to the previous year, and an innovation strategy to prepare for the AI era. In particular, the details of the 2026 Busan Game Industry Promotion Support Project will be announced, including ▲discovery and incubation of indie developers ▲production support to strengthen content competitiveness ▲support for commercialization to develop global markets ▲support for hiring professional personnel.

Strengthening production support to create a better environment for games

The most significant feature of this support program is the significant strengthening of game production support. The Promotion Agency has expanded the scope of support compared to the previous year and established a customized support system tailored to each developer’s growth stage.

From early-stage indie developers to studios pursuing mid- to long-term development projects, the program is designed to provide the support needed at each stage of growth. Specifically, the Indie Developer Discovery and Incubation Program provides early-stage funding and mentoring to help emerging developers bring their ideas to life and develop prototypes.

The Content Competitiveness Enhancement Production Support Project provides substantial production support for high-quality game development to mid-sized developers. The goal is to create a stable production environment, enabling games developed in the Busan region to compete in domestic and international markets.

Supporting AI Transition, Driving a Paradigm Shift in Game Development

As AI (artificial intelligence) technology becomes the new standard for the gaming industry, the Promotion Agency is further expanding its support project for game development AI conversion (AX).

This project provides technical support, training, and consulting to help local game companies apply AI models throughout the entire game development process and service operations. It helps local game companies implement various AI-based development techniques, such as automatic graphics generation, NPC dialogue systems, and automated game balancing.

In particular, the program focuses on providing practical support to small developers to reduce the initial costs associated with adopting AI technology and to enable rapid technological innovation. Through this, the goal is to promote technological advancement and structural transformation in the Busan gaming industry, thereby establishing a foundation for sustainable growth.

Entering the global market and providing practical business opportunities

Support for expanding beyond the domestic market to the global stage will also be strengthened. The Promotion Agency will support local game companies in achieving tangible results in overseas markets by supporting the development of global markets and commercialization.

We actively support expansion into new markets such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America through the operation of an emerging market development team, and provide networking opportunities with overseas publishers and investors by subsidizing the cost of participation in major domestic and international game exhibitions.

We went beyond simply participating in exhibitions, and by supporting the entire process, from establishing local marketing strategies to supporting contract negotiations and after-sales management, we helped companies achieve tangible results in overseas expansion.

A support system with no blind spots, including support for hiring professional personnel.

Talent is essential for creating excellent games. Through its Professional Human Resources Recruitment Support Program, the Promotion Agency supports local game companies in recruiting the specialized personnel they need, including planners, programmers, and artists.

Furthermore, we have reorganized and supplemented existing support programs to minimize blind spots in corporate support. Through various programs, including regionally specialized content development support and the Busan Content Academy, we provide comprehensive support encompassing the entire gaming industry ecosystem.
