The expanded gameplay trailer for the action rogue-lite game ‘Vegelypse’, developed by Polish new indie game studio Jumble Cats Studios and published by Tate Multimedia, has been released, and users are paying attention to its unique concept.

The developer teased a new gameplay trailer via IGN on the 5th, along with the pun, “Are you ready to beet your greens?”

First revealed at IGN’s Post-TGA Showcase

“Vegelypse” first appeared at the IGN Post-TGA Showcase last December. Following an explosion in a nearby town, maliciously mutated crops invade the world. These horrifying, hungry mutated vegetables and fruits seek to turn the surrounding town into a salad bar of destruction.

The Hard Rock Cacti Band is a band of rock star cacti who, during band practice, are attacked by a truck full of rabid root vegetables, forcing them to throw down their instruments and join the fight.

The game begins in a peaceful rural area and involves advancing to the heart of a city engulfed in flames, with the goal of stopping the source of the disaster.

The visual strengths of hand-drawn animation

‘Vegelypse’s’ most striking features are its vivid hand-drawn visuals and smooth frame-by-frame animation. Jumble Cats Studios has created a unique visual style inspired by classic cartoons and anime, while a powerful hard rock soundtrack adds to the game’s atmosphere and action.

The game features a rogue-lite structure, combining classic beat-em-up action with random elements, a unique evolution system, and special abilities. Each playthrough offers a unique experience, and enemies include giant, aggressive mutant fruits and vegetables.

In Story Mode, you can explore the game’s story, in Arcade Mode, you can challenge for the high score, and in Arena Mode, you can complete various tasks.

Co-op play and various game modes

‘Vegelypse’ supports 1-4 player co-op. You and your friends can select a thorny cactus powerhouse and fight your way through it. It supports online, LAN, and split-screen co-op, and also offers Remote Play Together.

It supports features such as Steam Leaderboards, Steam Achievements, and Steam Cloud, and is available in 11 languages, including Korean. English supports full audio, while the remaining languages have interface and subtitle support.

The first work of a veteran team that has been working together for 18 years

Jumble Cats Studio is a new game developer based in Poland. The core team has been working together for over 18 years, gaining development experience through projects such as Oxytone and Space Tail.

Through collaborations with diverse teams around the world, they have accumulated expertise across the entire spectrum of game development, and are currently working on developing new IPs that will satisfy both modern and retro game fans, fueled by new ideas and passion.

The development team stated that “Vegelypse will provide an energetic playing experience through a hard rock soundtrack with fast guitar riffs and intense drum sounds, and a variety of game modes.”

The game is scheduled for release in 2026, though a specific release date has not yet been announced. You can wishlist the game on its Steam store page, and follow the Tate Multimedia Discord, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram for the latest updates.
