Indie game developer ASKS announced that their new game, “EXE.CUTOR,” will be officially released for free on Steam on February 5th. Set in a cyberpunk world, the game is a strategy puzzle game that utilizes the familiar Tetris block while incorporating an innovative grid rotation system and rogue-lite elements.
The Cyber City’s Underbelly: The War Against Viruses
The game is set in the lower levels of a cyber city. Players, along with Hammy, a professional cleaner duo, receive an unofficial assignment from the data center manager. A virus infection has begun to spread throughout the city, but official response is impossible. The goal is to activate a custom-built execution system, “EXE.CUTOR,” and eliminate the corrupted AI and its hosts one by one.
Strategic combat built from data fragments
The game’s core mechanic involves placing data blocks on an 8×8 grid and rotating them in a 4×4 area to complete lines. Once a line is completed, equipped equipment is activated, triggering attacks, defenses, or various special effects. While maintaining the intuitive controls of Tetris, the game adds the variable of grid rotation, demanding a deeper level of strategy.
Synergy effect achieved by combining equipment
Each piece of gear has its own unique tier and category, and combining them creates powerful synergies. It’s entirely up to the player to decide which gear to prioritize and which categories to focus on when building their build. Sometimes, a well-matched combination can have a greater impact on a battle than a single powerful item.
Acquire equipment and data blocks through battles and stage events, and explore recovery, enhancement, and selection nodes to forge your own growth path. The appeal of the roguelite genre lies in the unique choices and experimentation that each playthrough offers.
A strategy that expands with the properties of colorful blocks
The development team is preparing a variety of block cards that go beyond the limitations of existing blocks. One of these, the “Ghost Block,” can be placed over existing blocks, offering a completely new way to solve puzzles. With the addition of these unique blocks, players are expected to enjoy a richer and more diverse gaming experience.
The fun of strategy and choice for free
‘EXE.CUTOR’ can be played even on relatively low system requirements. Minimum requirements include Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i3-6100 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 4GB of RAM, and a graphics card equivalent to Intel HD Graphics 630. The game supports Korean, English, Japanese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese.
‘EXE.CUTOR’ will be released completely free on Steam on February 5th. Combining familiar Tetris blocks with innovative grid rotation, a cyberpunk worldview, and the fun of rogue-lite, it’s a game that will be highly anticipated by puzzle and strategy game fans.
