A special indie game exhibition, ‘Seoul Game Town’, will be held in Munrae-dong, Seoul on September 20th.
‘Seoul Game Town’, which has the slogan of a game exhibition for everyone, has set out to be an ‘open festival’ where anyone can exhibit any game they have created without any screening, documentation, or genre restrictions.
According to the organizing committee behind Seoul Game Town, major game shows in Korea face high competition, preventing countless developers from getting exhibition opportunities. At the 2025 PlayX4 Indio Rock Hall, 156 teams applied for just 40 spots, and at BIC 2024, only 159 teams out of 502 were selected to travel to Busan. This means that approximately 70% of applicants at each event are unable to make it to the stage.
The organizing committee stated, “We believe everyone needs a space where they can showcase their games with respect and authenticity,” explaining their intentions. They added, “We aim to create a space where respect, encounter, experimentation, and possibility are central, rather than evaluation.” To achieve this, they will recruit 30 teams on a first-come, first-served basis and provide them with exhibition opportunities without any separate screening, creating a festival where anyone with a single game they’ve created can participate.
Seoul Game Town currently has 30 participating teams confirmed for the exhibition, scheduled to open this coming Saturday (September 20th). The event will be held for one day only at the All That Mind Munrae branch, open from noon to 5 PM. Tickets are 12,000 won per person and can be purchased on-site.
