○ Seeking to strengthen continuous cooperation with overseas associations and organizations to strengthen the global business of Korean indie games
○ Mutual cooperation between ‘From the Red’, ‘Korea Game Developers Conference’, and ‘Global Game Developers Conference’

The Korea Indie Game Association (KIGS), a non-profit organization, and From the Red Co., Ltd., the vice president, announced that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP) to strengthen the development of the global game industry and mutual cooperation between indie game developers in both countries, and that they will pursue various joint projects and industrial exchanges.

The MOU signing ceremony took place on February 7th at the ‘Global Game Developers Conference GDS (Game Dev Summit)’ held in Boracay, Philippines, and was attended by key officials including From the Red’s ‘Sang-wook Seo’, Vice President of the Korea Indie Game Association, and ‘James’, President of the Philippine Game Developers Association. The GDS event is the first conference and summit event in the Philippines attended by game industry officials from around the world, and is now in its second year.

Alexis of the organizer, GAME OPS, said, “This event, which is growing with the support of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) of the Philippines, signed an MOU with the Indie Game Association of Korea, the world’s fourth largest game market, and Zempie, a global service for game developers. This is very meaningful for the development of the Asian game market.”

In addition, From the Red, the vice president of the Korea Indie Game Association, said, “Based on Zempie’s activities, we will continue to participate in game conferences and events around the world and make efforts to help domestic indie game developers advance into the global market. Through this agreement, we expect to establish a foundation for more active collaboration with Philippine indie game developers and achieve results in the global market,” and “We will not spare any support so that developers from both countries can grow together by leveraging each other’s strengths.”

Vice President Hong Young-ki of the association said, “We expect that this three-party MOU will further strengthen cooperation in the game industries between Korea and the Philippines, and in particular, we expect it to be an important turning point for indie game developers to expand their international networks and enter the global market.”
