Smilegate Future Lab (from now on referred to as ‘Future Lab’) announced on the 16th that it completed the indie game creation contest ‘IndieGo 2024’ awards ceremony held yesterday.
‘Indigo 2024’, which celebrated its 4th anniversary this year, was held to discover indie game creators and support their creative activities. During the one-month application period from February 5 to March 5, indie games of various genres, including shooting, adventure, roguelike, and puzzle, were submitted.
About 40 people, including seven winning teams and game industry officials, attended the awards ceremony at Smilegate Future Lab (Sinchon) located at Sogang University. This year’s award-winning works are ▲ ‘Shape of Dream’ (Grand Prize) ▲ ‘Spear’, ‘City of Wolves’ (Grand Prize) ▲ ‘Florarium’, ‘Over the Horizon’ ‘, ‘Final Knight’, ‘Fortress – Four Direction Block Puzzle Game’ (Encouragement Award), etc.
At the meetup held on the day of the awards ceremony, participants had time to network and communicate by exchanging feedback on each other’s games. The prize money for the contest was raised through donations made by Future Lab and creative teams from Smilegate Membership (from now on referred to as ‘SGM’*), including ‘Anti-Aliasing’, ‘Geomgyuldan’, and ‘Remora’.
* SGM is a program operated by Smilegate to support creators’ activities. In addition to the indie game sector, we are creating a creative environment in various areas, such as artificial intelligence and social participation.
Developer Shim Eun-seop of the Lizard Smoothie team, which won the grand prize in this contest, said, “Our game has many shortcomings, but I think the team’s potential has been well received.” He added, “We are trying to create a game that not only users but also developers can enjoy. “I will try my best,” he said about receiving the award.
Future Lab team leader Joo-hoon Hwang said, “Indigo 2024 is a meetup-centered contest where creative teams developing indie games play each other’s games and exchange feedback. “Future Lab will continue to conduct programs to create a creative community where indie game creators can grow by exchanging insights and support, so we ask for your interest.”
