Nexon (CEO Lee Jeong-heon) announced on the 15th that it had started a development talent training course using ‘Maple Story World’ at Dankook University Affiliated Software High School (hereinafter referred to as Dandae Sogo) under the support of the Gangnam Future Education Center in cooperation with Gangnam-gu, Seoul (Director Cho Sung-myeong).
The ‘MSW Development Talent Cultivation Course with Nexon’ is held every Saturday for 7 months until November, targeting Dandae Sogo students. Students can listen to lectures on the metaverse market and platform, increase their understanding of the industry, and learn the content design and planning process while writing a ‘World’ plan.
Along with this, they plan to create a ‘world’ through Lua script coding, visit Nexon’s office building, and hold a mentoring session with a Q&A session with incumbent developers. After refinement based on mentoring feedback, it will be officially released in ‘Maple Story World’ and will complete the development talent training process.
Through this cooperation, Nexon and Gangnam-gu plan to enhance students’ software and computer thinking skills and nurture future software talents suitable for the 4th industry. On the 13th, Nexon employees visited Dandae Sogo and gave a special lecture introducing the metaverse platform industry, creators, and ‘Maple Story World.’
Nexon Se-Hyung Oh, who is in charge of the ‘Maple Story World project, said, “This development talent training course with Gangnam-gu is a new educational cooperation of ‘Maple Story World,’ and it provides young people with an opportunity to release their own coded productions officially. “We will do our best so that Dandae Sogo students can take a successful first step as developers through ‘Maple Story World.’”
Meanwhile, lecturers, professors, and current employees of the Department of Digital Contents Design at Myongji University, who are providing practical training based on ‘Maple Story World’ in collaboration with Nexon from 2022, will participate.
