Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyung-Joon) and Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency (Director Jeong Mun-seop) will hold 「2023 Busan Game Industry Promotion Support Business Briefing and Busan 3rd Game & Content Fund Investment Briefing」 for game companies and prospective entrepreneurs in Busan. It was announced that it would be held on March 3 at 2:00 pm at the CKL complex on the 5th floor of the Busan Cultural Contents Complex.
Through this briefing, the Korea Development Institute will announce details of the Busan game industry development support project in 2023, including ▲ discovery and incubation of indie games, ▲ support for game content production, ▲ support for commercialization of global markets, and ▲ expansion of financial support through funds.
This year, the city of Busan and the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency plans to create a creative and diverse indie game start-up environment and make more efforts to support the growth of middle-tier companies. In the case of the Bu:Star game content production support project, the number of applications will be expanded, and a game content advancement support project will be established to support compatibility improvement and testing to improve game marketability.
In addition, in connection with the Busan Contents Academy education project, support projects for job creation and settlement environment improvement for local youth, such as employment support for content companies, developer competency training, mentoring and networking, and prospective developer discovery, will be introduced.
In particular, the first briefing session on the 14.7 billion won Busan No. 3 Game & Content Fund (Smart Union non-face-to-face investment association), which was formed by Busan City last year, will also be held. The Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency holds company briefings and IR meetings for start-ups in the field of games and content in the early stages of business in the region.
The Korea Development Institute has so far operated three-game content investment funds worth 69.1 billion won and has invested a total of 2.8 billion won in 5 local companies.
In addition, the PC game ‘Little Witch in the Forest’, developed by Sunnyside Up Co., Ltd., a local game company that participated in the support project of the Busan Global Game Center operated by the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency, became the world’s best-selling product on Steam. Soul Launcher, developed by Oblique Games Co., Ltd., was selected as one of the Top 10 Google Play Indie Game Festivals.

Meanwhile, the Busan Global Game Center is operated by the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency with the support of Busan Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and the Korea Creative Content Agency to nurture the region-based game industry. Through support projects, it is contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of Busan game companies.
