Selected projects are provided with a minimum of 5,000 USD (approximately 6.4 million KRW) and a maximum of 500,000 USD (approximately 640 million KRW), and there are no conditions or restrictions such as IP ownership, publishing, or repayment of funds.

In addition to development support, Megagrant provides benefits such as free hardware, AWS Activate credits, and marketing support from Epic partners such as AMD, AWS, Intel, and Movie Ai to develop the project further.

More benefits are coming in the future, including free access to products within the Epic ecosystem, such as free licenses and premium accounts for Capturing Reality and Sketchfab.

This year’s selection includes a variety of projects, from indie games to smart metahumans that think and speak for themselves, and real estate metaverses realized with digital twins, games, movies, TV & live events, architecture, and other industries, education, tools, and open source. In Korea, seven works, including indie games, VR projects, and drama series, were selected as Epic Mega Grants this year alone. Domestic developers that have received mega grant support include Newcore Games, Moomo Studios, Smilegate Entertainment, Urban Wolf Games, Odd One Games, Westworld, and Project Cloud Games.

Newcore Games received Epic Mega Grant support for its multi-platform 2.5D stylish action game ‘Devil Within: Satgat,’ and Moomo Studios for its PvP survival mafia game ‘Dubium.’ Smilegate Entertainment’s ‘Crossfire’ IP’s first VR cooperative shooting game ‘Crossfire: Sierra Squad,’ Urban Wolf Games’ VR action role-playing game ‘Legendary Tales,’ Odd One Game’ player shipwrecked on a strange island The survival online game, ‘Tree of Life: Oddria!’

Westworld used in-camera VFX technology based on Unreal Engine’s LED wall to produce Netflix’s original sci-fi drama ‘Sea of Silence,’ realizing the unknown space of space and the moon realistically. Project Cloud Games received mega grant support for ‘Project Relic,’ a soul-like action game based on a traditional Korean concept.
