Indie game developer Team Etou announced that it has released a trial version of ‘Mungyeong Saejae’, a side-scrolling 2D action game set in the Joseon Dynasty, on Stove Indy on February 14th.

The story of ‘Mungyeong Saejae’, produced in the PC version, is set in the background of Joseon, which is in chaos after the end of the Imjin War. The gamer becomes a scholar on a test road in the past, relying on a bow to defeat bandits, remnants of the Japanese army, and monsters, and head to Hanyang with the help of Seong Chun-hyang, whom he met on the way.

Unlike general side-scrolling games, the game was developed with a bow-centered action to differentiate it. In particular, it is characterized by emphasizing action through realization of techniques and items based on actual weapons, equipment, and folktales of the Joseon Dynasty. In the trial version, 3 skills and 3 items were released, and it is expected that more various items and techniques will be added in the official version in the future.

In addition, ‘Mungyeong Saejae’ aims to implement a total of about 8 individual stages for the official release, and each stage will contain a unique story based on a local story. The story of the tutorial included in the trial version will then continue to the second stage of the official version, the remnants of the Japanese army at Mt. Baekmasan, and will cover the story of General Kim Se-geun, a volunteer who was active in Mt. Baekmas.

A trial version of ‘Mungyeong Saejae’ can be downloaded from the Stove Indy page.
