A soldier framed, abandoned, and isolated. Communications are cut off, and his allies have vanished. Only the body cam mounted on his chest records the entire situation.

‘AAU Black Site’ , a bodycam psychological horror FPS developed by Raspberry Studio, an indie studio in Loznica, Serbia, and published by IZilla Games (part of Infernozilla), was released on Steam Early Access on May 21.

The price is $14.99, and a 10% discount is available for a limited time to celebrate the launch. The game has entered Early Access after its quality was improved by incorporating community feedback following positive reviews at Steam Next Fest, and currently, two missions are available to play.

The horror of found footage aesthetics… A bodycam FPS capturing the ruins of Serbia

The most distinctive feature of AAU Black Site is that it presents the entire gameplay from a bodycam perspective. By recording every scene, from everyday moments to supernatural horror, it delivers an immersive experience akin to watching footage of a real event.

The subtle camera shake, narrow and claustrophobic spaces, and direction that blurs the boundary between reality and fantasy maximize psychological tension. Set against the backdrop of the ruined Serbian region of Uzovnica, the addition of a supernatural setting mixing demons and anomalies over military realism completes a unique atmosphere.

Players must survive and attempt to escape in a hostile environment, with a structure where tactical combat and psychological horror constantly intersect.

‘6-Level Responsive Sound’ That Changes Depending on the Situation

Sound is also a core element of this game. The self-produced, reactive soundtrack, consisting of six levels, changes in real-time depending on the gameplay situation.

When moving stealthily, the music maintains a low and eerie atmosphere, but as danger escalates, percussion, bass, and guitar are added, transitioning into intense combat music. As the player is detected by enemies or the situation deteriorates, the density and intensity of the music increase, heightening the tension.

Anomaly AI with 16,000 lines of behavioral code that ‘learns’ the player

Hostile anomalies are designed not to follow simple patterns, but to make their own judgments and adapt. Some entities operate based on over 16,000 lines of behavioral code, learning the player’s behavioral patterns and predicting strategies to exploit them.

The dynamic horror difficulty system is also noteworthy. It automatically adjusts the aggression and intelligence of enemies based on the player’s skill. The difficulty is eased upon repeated failures, while more aggressive and unpredictable threats appear for skilled players.

A growing Serbian debut amidst ‘mixed’ reviews following favorable reception at Next Fest

AAU Black Site maintains a ‘Mixed’ rating on Steam, with a 62% positive rating based on 64 reviews.

Following the positive response at Next Fest, the development team has been actively communicating with the community to improve the game, and plans to continuously add various content such as story chapters, weapons, enemies, and regions during the Early Access period.

This debut title from Raspberry Studio, an indie development team based in Loznica, Serbia, has garnered attention from numerous international media outlets immediately after its release and is establishing its presence with a unique approach as a bodycam-based horror FPS.
