YaoyoroZOO is a puzzle action game that uses camera-based facial recognition technology as the core interaction. Surrounding objects such as a remote control bat, a toolbox hippo, and a clock owl transform into unique animals called ‘Fanimals,’ and the player solves puzzles by having the bat emit ultrasonic waves when blinking and the hippo open its mouth to move obstacles.
This work, first unveiled at the BitSummit Game Jam, garnered significant attention at the event through a system in which the natural reactions of the participants are directly converted into game controls.
Game Design Excellence Award — Nightmare Operator / DDDistortion
The Game Design Excellence Award was given to ‘Nightmare Operator’ by ‘DDDistortion’.
The game is a third-person action shooter set in a polluted near-future Tokyo where you fight against monsters, combining retro 90s anime-style visuals with a tense tactical combat system.
In particular, it is an experimental title that combines the tension of gunfights with the rhythmic controls characteristic of fighting games through an original attempt to incorporate the Kocom system (fighting game-style combo input) into the TPS genre. It is analyzed that the challenging design of combining the conventions of different genres received high praise.
