Swedish indie developer DoubleMoose Games has released the office-themed roguelite arena shooter ‘Last Man Sitting’ on Steam.
In this game, where you traverse the battlefield from a 360-degree rotating office chair to shoot, hack, and grind against hordes of living office appliances, the feel of 2000s arcade action is blended into a modern roguelite structure. It supports both single-player and cooperative play, and even features a PvP tournament mode for up to four players.
The office chair is a weapon… 360-degree grinding action
The most distinctive feature of Last Man Sitting is its movement system, which is designed around an office chair. Players can freely glide, jump, and grind while standing on the chair, traversing the battlefield with ease.
To avoid being overwhelmed by the ceaseless swarms of ‘living’ appliances, you must shape the flow of the battlefield through organic movement and positioning, in addition to simply shooting. It is designed so that even repeated gameplay feels fresh, as you can unlock skills through chair upgrades and configure different equipment every time.
Over 200 Power-ups… Deep Roguelike Structure
The game’s roguelite system goes beyond simple leveling up. You gain experience points by defeating enemies, and with each level up, you choose one of over 200 power-ups to complete your build.
Extreme build configurations are possible, allowing you to evolve basic skills to legendary levels, and completing quests within the map grants additional special rewards during stage progression. Weapons with unique firing modes and effects, such as cleaning tools like mops and miniguns, also expand the range of strategic choices.
From mini-bosses to the final boss… A showdown with ‘The Manager’
After fending off the pressure from enemies that grow stronger in stages, a mini-boss and a cinematic final boss with exaggerated visuals await. The root cause of all the disaster is the villain ‘The Manager,’ who leads an army of living office appliances. The ultimate goal of the game is to survive until the very end while breaking through the onslaught of his inanimate subordinates.
Multiplayer that blurs the lines between cooperation and competition
The game’s multiplayer mode is not just about cooperation. In PvP Arena mode, up to four players can face off in a ‘King of the Hill’ style tournament.
The developers described this using office humor called “Strategic Alignment Sessions.” Players can freely switch between cooperative gameplay, where they wipe out enemies with colleagues, and competitive gameplay, where they face off against each other, depending on the situation.
An office world full of humor and satire
DoubleMoose Games is a developer with such a unique sense of humor that it introduces itself as “a group of beings with souls from various dimensions coming together to create audiovisual entertainment.”
This distinctive character is fully reflected throughout the game. A blend of satire on office culture and ingenious settings goes beyond a simple arcade shooter to deliver unique and entertaining fun.
Last Man Sitting is currently available on Steam. Combining the unique action of racing across a battlefield in an office chair with the repetitive gameplay typical of roguelites, this title appears poised to be a new option for users seeking a distinctive arcade game.
