Recruitment open until March 26th… Strengthening the global competitiveness of small and medium-sized game companies through the introduction of generative AI support .
Up to 40 million won in support will be provided to Seoul-based companies in three areas: AI production, game production, and marketing.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Economic Promotion Agency (SBA) are launching the “2026 Game Content Commercialization Support Project” to improve production efficiency and strengthen global competitiveness for small and medium-sized game companies. Companies interested in participating can apply through the SBA website until 5:00 PM on March 26th.

Customized support for the AI era… New “Generative AI Production Support” introduced.

This project consists of three main areas: ▲Generative AI-powered production support (new), ▲Game production support, and ▲Game marketing support. In particular, the “Generative AI-powered production support,” introduced for the first time this year, is attracting attention.

As generative AI adoption rapidly expands across the global gaming industry, AI adoption is emerging as a key factor in determining game development competitiveness. As major gaming companies build their own AI models and dedicated teams, widening the technological gap, the core of this new initiative is to support small and medium-sized gaming companies, which often lack capital and human resources, to respond.

Each of the five selected companies will receive funding of approximately 10 million won, which can be used to purchase paid licenses for commercial AI solutions such as ChatGPT (planning), Midjourney/Stable Diffusion (art), and GitHub Co-Pilot (coding), as well as for AI adoption consulting costs (up to 20% of the grant).

Up to 30 million won in production support and up to 40 million won in marketing support

The game production support program will select four Seoul-based small and medium-sized game companies with either in-development or unreleased games, providing up to 30 million won per company in development and production personnel expenses. The program focuses on rescuing early-stage game companies facing financial difficulties and enhancing the quality of their projects.

The game marketing support program will select four companies seeking to expand overseas with games released within the past two years, providing up to 40 million won per company. This support can be used for customized marketing expenses such as localization (translation), user acquisition (UA) advertising, and influencer-linked promotions, effectively promoting the game beyond the domestic market and promoting global expansion.

Last year, eight companies supported the platform, generating 4.5 million cumulative downloads and achieving global market success.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the eight companies that received support through this project in 2025 achieved a cumulative total of 4.5 million downloads.

Sadadollar’s “Guns Tower” has secured a foothold in the North American market by signing a contract with French publisher Voodoo, which has recorded 8 billion cumulative downloads worldwide. Grampus’ “BTS Cooking On: TinyTan Restaurant” has been released in over 170 countries and received rave reviews, targeting global fandoms through marketing campaigns such as those tied to BTS’s Gwanghwamun concert. Super Planet is also leading the expansion of K-games by pioneering new markets in Southeast Asia with the webtoon-based game “High Level!”

Strengthening comprehensive support for small and medium-sized game companies in conjunction with the Seoul Game Content Center in Sangam-dong.

In addition to this support project, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to continue strengthening its “Seoul Game Content Center” in Sangam-dong by providing tenant space, industry networking, and supporting participation in domestic and international exhibitions. This center serves as a comprehensive growth and development hub for small and medium-sized game companies and startups.

Lee Su-yeon, the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s economic affairs director, said, “The gaming industry is one of the content industries with the highest export competitiveness, and when combined with new technologies such as AI, it has great potential for growth in the global market.” She added, “The Seoul Metropolitan Government will provide full support so that small and medium-sized gaming companies can leap forward as competitive players in the global market.”
