The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Choi Hwi-young) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (Acting President Yoo Hyeon-seok, hereinafter referred to as KOCCA) announced that they will be accepting applications for the 2026 ‘Korea Indie Game DevCamp’, a step-by-step competitive selection program to discover and support promising indie game projects, from February 23 to March 23 .

KOCCA has completely restructured its business structure this year to support the development of game planning capabilities in early-stage startups and aspiring entrepreneurs with innovative ideas. This will not only strengthen the competitiveness of Korea’s indie game industry but also further solidify the growth potential of the Korean game industry . The key focus is to proactively identify projects in the early planning stages and provide focused support at each stage , enabling them to develop advanced prototypes (vertical slices) for key sections. The first phase of this process, the Excellent Planning Process, will select and support 130 projects in total: 70 from the corporate sector and 60 from the individual sector.

From game planning to verification… A 6 billion won phased competition system is in place.

This year’s “Korea Indie Game DevCamp” will be funded by a total of 6 billion won . Support is available in two categories: ▲Corporate and ▲Individual. Upon final selection, companies will receive development grants of up to 140 million won per project, and individuals will receive up to 85 million won per project.

This project will be conducted as a staged competition, with the following stages: ▲Stage 1: Excellent Planning ▲Stage 2: Initial Development (Build) ▲Stage 3: Prototype ▲Stage 4: Advanced Prototype for Core Sections (Vertical Slice) . Each stage will refine the pool of eligible applicants, and selected projects will receive tailored programs tailored to each stage of development, including seminars, one-on-one expert mentoring, pitch deck development, and participation in the “Korea Indie Game Showcase,” to enhance the quality of their work.

Strengthening support for indie game commercialization through collaboration with leading domestic and international companies.

In particular, a total of 7 companies, including Neowiz, Discord, Smilegate, Com2uS Holdings, Krafton, Toss (Viva Republica), and Pearl Abyss, will be participating as partner companies in this ‘Dev Camp’.

The partner companies will provide step-by-step advice on selected projects, invite them to their own events and networking opportunities, support participation in major domestic and international exhibitions, and conduct investment reviews, providing comprehensive support for the commercialization and global expansion of indie games. The goal is to help indie game developers overcome the technical and management limitations they face through public-private collaboration .
