Enhancing the Competitiveness of K-Indie Games Through User-Based Testing and a Global Network

The Korea Mobile Game Association (Chairman Hwang Seong-ik) and Plidus Co., Ltd. (CEO Lim Chan-young) announced on the 30th that they have signed a business agreement (MOU) to promote the development of the domestic small and medium-sized and indie game industry.

Pleathers is a specialized platform that conducts pre-launch playtests with actual users and analyzes play logs, surveys, and behavioral data to verify a game’s completeness and market fit. Currently, it boasts a pool of over 100,000 testers and has conducted over 1,000 tests. It has conducted Focus Group Tests (FGT), Closed Beta Tests (CBT), and Open Beta Tests (OBT) projects for numerous indie and small-to-medium-sized game companies.

In particular, Fleedus is actively expanding its collaborations beyond the domestic market with overseas publishers and global game companies. It has signed business agreements with publishers in various countries, including Georgia, Spain, Hong Kong, and the United States. It conducts testing of their titles with a Korean user base, while also introducing and matching domestic indie games with overseas partners. Through these efforts, Fleedus serves as a practical gateway for domestic developers to connect with global publishers.

Comprehensive cooperation, from global expansion support to user evaluation.

Through this agreement, the two organizations plan to establish a cooperative system in various fields, including global networking support, discovery and verification of excellent developers, and cooperation in the industrial ecosystem.

First, we decided to actively support the global expansion of domestic developers by utilizing the extensive database of overseas investors and publishers owned by Fleetwood, including supporting the invitation of overseas partners to Korea during business matching events.

Furthermore, in conjunction with the Korea Mobile Game Association’s “Indie Craft” indie game festival, Plidus’ FGT expertise will be leveraged to conduct user evaluations when selecting outstanding developers. This will foster an environment where game completion can be enhanced from the early stages of development based on actual user feedback.

In addition, Fleeders has decided to join the Korea Mobile Game Association as an executive member and cooperate more closely with the association.

Strengthening Indie Game Competitiveness with Data-Driven Decision-Making

Lim Chan-young, CEO of Fleeders, said, “There are many cases where domestic indie game developers create good games but do not have sufficient opportunities to verify them in the market.” He added, “Through this collaboration, we hope to create an environment where the level of completion can be improved based on actual user feedback from the early stages of development, and help more indie games become competitive in the domestic and international markets.”

He added, “Fleeders will go beyond simply providing testing and become a partner that helps with data-driven decision-making, contributing to the growth of the indie game ecosystem as a whole.”

Hwang Seong-ik, Chairman of the Korea Mobile Game Association, said, “I am very pleased to be able to share the infinite possibilities of Plitheus with the Association.” He added, “Both companies will work to ensure that the testing system where users and developers can work together can help K-indie games advance into the global market.”

The industry expects this collaboration to provide substantial growth opportunities for indie game developers who lack funding and manpower, and to have a positive impact on the domestic indie game ecosystem as a whole.
