The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Choi Hwi-young) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (Acting President Yoo Hyeon-seok, hereinafter referred to as KOCCA) will hold the ‘2025 Console Game Developer Conference (hereinafter referred to as the Conference)’ at the DoubleTree by Hilton Seoul Pangyo for two days from November 6th to 7th.

This event, Korea’s first global console game developer conference, aims to provide a new turning point for domestic game developers who have consistently challenged themselves despite limited information and infrastructure, and to provide a platform for exchange between domestic and international console game industry talent.

◆ A gathering of world-class masters, from Shuhei Yoshida to Yoshiki Okamoto

Leaders representing the global console industry will visit Korea. This event will feature sessions covering the entire process of console game planning, development, and commercialization, with domestic and international speakers with expertise and practical experience on each topic participating.

On November 6th, ▲ former CEO Shuhei Yoshida, who led the growth of the indie ecosystem while leading ‘PlayStation’ at Sony Interactive Entertainment for over 30 years, will give a keynote speech on suggestions for console games and indie games, ▲ producer Keiji Inafune, who created million-sellers such as ‘Rockman’ and ‘Biohazard 2’, ▲ Emmanuel Rosier, general analyst of console reports at global game market data analysis agency NEWZOO, ▲ Jaeho Hwang, CEO of Mint Rocket, the developer of the hit game ‘Dave the Diver’, which has sold over 5 million copies worldwide, will take the podium in that order.

On November 7th, ▲Yoshiki Okamoto, former Managing Director and producer at Capcom who led the success of ‘Street Fighter II’ and Japan’s national game ‘Monster Strike’, will be the keynote speaker on the second day, ▲Yuichiro Shimada, Head of Product Promotion Department at Sega Publishing Korea (SPK), who is well-versed in the Korean console game market, ▲Matteo Sapio, Japan Representative and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Poncle, the developer of the global mega-hit indie game ‘Vampire Survivors’, and ▲Katsuhiko Hayashi, CEO of Famitsu Group, which owns Japan’s leading game magazine ‘Weekly Famitsu’, will share changes in the console industry and strategies for entering the Japanese market.

Next, ▲Happinet, a key company in Japanese console package distribution and the Japanese publisher of the popular domestic console game ‘P’s Lie’, will hold a joint session with Itani Masayuki, General Manager of the Video Game Unit, and Masaki Kousuke, Leader of the Sales Planning Team, to analyze the role and trends of distributors in the Japanese console package market.

In addition, ▲CEO Koo Chang-sik of CFK, a first-generation Korean console developer, and ▲CEO Yoo Seung-hyun of Wonder Potion, the developer of the console game ‘Sannabi’, will share the difficulties and solutions faced by domestic developers based on their actual development and release experiences.

KOCCA Acting Director Yoo Hyun-seok said, “This conference was planned to share information among developers and build a global network to revitalize the Korean console game industry,” adding, “I hope that this will further solidify the competitiveness of the Korean console industry and become a turning point for domestic developers to proactively cooperate and grow on the global stage.”
