■ The event name was changed to ‘Beaver Rocks’ with the ambition to shake up the indie game market.
■ Any creator or team developing an indie game can apply… Recruiting exhibition teams through the website starting today.

Smilegate Future Lab (Chairman Kwon Hyuk-bin) announced on the 4th that it will change the name of the indie game & culture festival ‘Burning Beaver’ to ‘BEAVER ROCKS’ and is recruiting participating teams.

Beaver Rocks stands for “a massive festival of passionate indie game creators that will rock the world.” It embodies Future Lab’s ambition to create a world-shaking indie game festival with even more creators.

Now in its fourth year, “Beaver Rocks” is the largest festival of indie game creators and users in the Seoul metropolitan area, designed to expand the domestic indie game development environment and support creators. The past three events have attracted a cumulative attendance of approximately 28,000. This year, the event will be held for three days, from December 5th to 7th, at Dongdaemun Design Plaza Art Hall 1. An online exhibition will also be held from December 1st to 14th.

Future Lab has launched its official website today and is accepting applications for exhibition teams. Any creator or team developing an indie game is eligible to apply. Teams wishing to participate should submit an application form, an executable game build, and a YouTube link to a gameplay video to the website by September 15th.

Participating teams will be provided with a booth to showcase their indie games during the event, along with support for PC and mobile devices, including keyboards and mice. Networking programs will be available for participating teams to connect, and a creator lounge will be provided for relaxation.

Future Lab Director Oh Sook-hyun said, “For the past three years, Burning Beaver has been highlighting the passion of creators. Going forward, Beaver Rocks will continue to grow into a novel and engaging festival that will ‘shake the world.’ We ask for the interest and participation of many indie game creators.”
