Indie game submissions for General, Rookie, and Connect-Pick categories begin sequentially from April 9. Official sponsors and Public Indie participants currently being recruited
Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon), Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (President Kim Tae-yeol), and Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee (Chairperson Ju Sung-pil, hereinafter BIC Committee) announced that submissions for the “Busan Indie Connect Festival 2025” (BIC 2025) indie game exhibition will start at 3 PM on April 9.
BIC 2025 submissions are divided into three categories: General and Rookie (competitive categories), and Connect-Pick (non-competitive category). Submissions for the General and Rookie categories open on April 9, while Connect-Pick submissions begin on April 16, with each category having different closing dates. Selected games will receive various benefits, including exhibition booths, promotional opportunities, and networking sessions. Submissions can be made via the official BIC website.
For competitive categories, submitting a game build for evaluation is mandatory. Convenience has been enhanced by allowing external link submissions for large files exceeding 2GB, a guideline introduced during the online briefing session held in March. The BIC Committee advised early submission to avoid heavy traffic on the closing date, emphasizing that submissions can be modified anytime within the submission period.
Last year’s BIC festival showcased 245 games from 28 countries, receiving enthusiastic responses from both domestic and international indie game developers and gamers. This year’s event is also expected to serve as a vibrant platform for global indie developers with diverse cultural backgrounds to present unique game content and engage with each other.
Additionally, the BIC Committee is currently recruiting official sponsors and Public Indie participating institutions (companies). Sponsoring companies will benefit from various promotional and collaboration opportunities during the festival period, with ten companies already confirmed. Public Indie booths, non-competitive spaces for public and educational institutions, offer multipurpose exhibition and networking areas. Recruitment for official sponsors and Public Indie participants continues until June 27.
BIC 2025 will be held offline at Busan BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 from August 15 (Friday) to August 17 (Sunday), with the online festival operating from August 8 to August 29 via the official website. Participants can join both offline and online exhibitions.
Chairperson Ju Sung-pil stated, “BIC Festival has evolved into a global platform for indie game developers worldwide to share their visions and network beyond being just an exhibition. We hope BIC 2025 will provide a launchpad for more creative indie games to enter the global market.”
