Smilegate Orange Planet Startup Foundation (Director Seo Sang-bong) announced on Friday the 4th that it held the ‘5th Busan Game Developer Conference’ at the Busan Global Game Center together with the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (Director Kim Tae-yeol). The event on that day received great attention from game developers and related workers in the Busan area, with a total of 120 people attending.
The ‘Busan Game Developer Conference’ is an event hosted by Orange Planet Busan Center to support the development capabilities of Busan area game developers and share related insights. This 5th conference consists of sessions related to this year’s game industry trends and the PC and console game markets.
Smilegate Megaport Trend Analysis Team shared insights for business growth by predicting industry changes through analysis of game industry trends in 2025. Domestic console publisher ‘CFK’ presented strategies for teams considering expanding their business into the console game market, while ‘XL Games’ presented PC game development know-how and growth plans that small developers can practically utilize.
In addition, a business briefing session for the Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC), an indie game show scheduled to be held in Busan in August, was held, sharing practical information on the exhibition program and application methods. At the networking session held after the conference, participating developers presented game demos and had time to actively share opinions.
Orange Planet Busan Center is discovering and supporting local developers and activating the local development ecosystem by holding conferences, college student game developer camps, business mentoring, and virtuous cycle mentoring between family companies. The conference was hosted by CEO Kim Yoon-soo of Zombie Mate, the developer of the global game ‘Nyangspa’ with 10 million downloads and an excellent developer in the Busan area with support from Orange Planet, adding meaning by eliciting active communication and empathy from local developers.
