Smilegate Future Lab Foundation (Chairman Kwon Hyuk-bin) announced the participating teams for the indie game & culture festival ‘Burning Beaver 2024’ on the 30th.
A total of 83 teams will participate in Burning Beaver this year. The participating teams will present games of various genres, including adventure, puzzle, action, shooting, and roguelike.
The Future Lab Foundation comprehensively evaluated the entries based on the game’s ‘fun’, ‘originality of theme and idea’, and ‘completeness of graphics, sound, etc.’
Many teams that have won awards at other exhibitions or awards, such as ‘Lizard Smoothie’, ‘Geumgyeoldan’, and ‘BBB’, are also participating. The ‘Lizard Smoothie’ team won the grand prize in the rookie category at this year’s Busan Indie Connect Festival with their indie game ‘Shape of Dream’. The ‘Geumgyeoldan’ team won the Award Winners award at this year’s Japan GYAAR Studio Indie Game Contest, and the ‘BBB’ team won the gold prize in the university category at the Global Indie Game Competition.
Burning Beaver 2024 will be held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) Art Hall 1 from November 29 to December 1.
Future Lab Foundation Team Leader Hwang Ju-hoon said, “Like last year, this year too, many indie games with novel themes and unique stories were submitted. I believe we will be able to show the essence of indie games.” He added, “Future Lab Foundation will continue to work to help indie games reach a wider audience through Burning Beaver.”
