■ The first contest jointly operated with the Gyeonggi Content Agency. Recruiting participants until the 20th of next month
■ Opportunity to be recognized for future potential and practical support necessary for the release of selected works
Smilegate Stove Indie announced on the 31st (Wednesday) that it will hold the ‘2024 WASD Indie Game Contest’ with Gyeonggi Content Agency(GCA) and recruit participants.
Stove Indie planned this contest with the Gyeonggi Creative Content Agency to foster various indie games and create a healthy gaming ecosystem. The competition, held for the first time by joining hands, was named after WASD, which is used as a PC game movement key familiar to gamers. It has two meanings: supporting indie game creators in finding their path and finding games that will move users’ hearts (Wonderful, Adventurous, Sparkling, Different).
The contest recruits participants in two categories: general and student. Any indie game creator across the country can participate in the general category. In the student category, applicants can apply if they are enrolled or on leave of absence from a high school or university in Gyeonggi-do or are Gyeonggi-do residents under 18. You can run and submit a demo build of an unreleased PC game as of August 21, 2024. The application for participation is until the 20th of next month (Tuesday).
Stove Indie and Gyeonggi Creative Content Agency awarded excellent indie games and differentiated the support content for selected works to open up future possibilities. First, the ten teams in each category that advance to the finals will receive support for a Stove Indie partner meetup. At the Stove Indie Partner Meetup, you can receive one-on-one consultation and mentoring in development, entrepreneurship, business, and career with Stove Indie employees.
The top 5 finalists in each category will be awarded a certificate and 12.5 million won in prize money. In particular, the TOP 5 in the general category are eligible for priority negotiating with Smilegate for publishing. Upon signing the contract, they receive support practically necessary for the release of the title, such as MG worth more than 100 million won, marketing costs in addition to global localization costs, and additional points for the 2025 support project from the Gyeonggi Content Agency. You can receive it.
Baek Young-hoon, CEO of Smilegate Stove Business, said, “The ‘2024 WASD Indie Game Contest’ was designed not only to discover excellent indie games but also to serve as a stepping stone for creators to grow further.” He added, “We are planning to move users’ hearts.” “We hope for much interest and support from creators/teams who create existing games.”
