Illuminating the U.S. ‘Hyperpower’ Era… Realizing the War on Terror and the War on Drugs
Turn-based historical simulation expansion pack ‘Maestro’s Cold War 2’ combining history and strategy

The new DLC ‘Pax Americana’ for the turn-based grand strategy game ‘Maestro’s Cold War 2’, developed by solo developer Maestro Cinetik from Paris, France, was officially released on Steam on March 19.

This expansion content extends the game’s time period from 1989 to 2001, and It deals in earnest with the changes in the world order following the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union (USSR).

Resistance and conflict surrounding the absolute superpower, the United States, following the collapse of the Soviet Union

The game unfolds around the so-called “Pax Americana” era, following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the emergence of the United States as the sole superpower. After the fall of the communist regime, the U.S. establishes itself as an unprecedented “hyperpower,” but the new world order soon faces resistance and conflict in various regions.

Amidst the conflict and tension stretching from Mogadishu to Kosovo, gamers face an increasingly complex international political landscape. Furthermore, the game faithfully reflects the 9/11 terrorist attacks of September 2001, when the myth of America’s invincibility crumbled along with the Twin Towers in New York.

Players begin the game by selecting either the United States, aiming to establish an international order, or the USSR following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Notably, the US faction introduces a new exclusive metric called ‘Hubris,’ which more realistically portrays the judgments of a superpower and the associated risks.

In addition, interactive map events have been added to broaden the range of strategic choices, and in the ‘War on Terror’ and ‘War on Drugs’ scenarios, more proactive response strategies are possible, such as intercepting terrorist organizations or drug cartels in the early stages.

From Y2K and the Gulf War to 9/11… 4 New Scenarios and 12 Years of History

The DLC features four new scenarios centered on specific historical events, such as the 1991 Moscow coup, the 1998 oil crisis, and the Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm). You can start small, history-focused scenarios or dive into the 52-year Grand Campaign spanning from 1949 to 2001.

In online multiplayer, you can team up with friends to take on different factions and compete to see who can achieve greater global influence. Five new challenges have also been added, featuring various objectives such as preventing the 9/11 terrorist attacks or successfully rebuilding the Soviet Republic.

Core game mechanics… The triangular balance of diplomacy, budget, and nuclear crisis

The base game, ‘Maestro’s Cold War 2’, is a strategic sandbox game set in the tense confrontation of the Cold War era. You play as either the United States or the Soviet Union, manage Prestige, Budget, and National Policies, and change history through policies, proxy wars, diplomacy, and brinkmanship.

In each turn, you must wisely invest your monthly budget to take action against other nations on the interactive map, build trust by providing military and economic aid, and accumulate prestige points by signing trade agreements and defense treaties. However, you must always make prudent judgments, as recklessly pursuing regime overthrow or military attacks against enemy nations will raise the DEFCON level, escalate tensions, and increase the risk of nuclear war.

Punk rock solo developer since 2011… “The community completes the game”
