A dormitory-themed mystery adventure game is targeting the global market.

The youth daily mystery detective game ‘No. 502’ currently being developed by domestic indie game developer LOTS will be unveiled at Taipei Game Show 2026, one of the largest game exhibitions in Asia.

Rats announced on the 27th that it will be participating in the Taipei Game Show 2026, which will be held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 (TaiNEX 1) in Taiwan from the 29th to the 1st of next month, to hold an on-site demonstration of ‘No. 502’ and communicate directly with overseas users.

Mystery in everyday life, set in a high school dormitory

“Room 502” is a narrative-driven mystery game set in a boarding school where players, along with their roommates, trace a chain of bizarre incidents. Through the eyes of the cynical protagonist, Hae-eun, players form relationships with various characters and gradually uncover strange signs hidden within seemingly ordinary daily life.

The game’s most distinctive feature is its unique atmosphere, which seamlessly combines the contrasting elements of “everyday life” and “mystery.” The delicately expressed emotional flow, the immersive narrative-driven progression, and the tension characteristic of the mystery genre are balanced to create a sense of experience, as if experiencing a youth drama.

What stands out is how the game maximizes immersion by using subtle cracks and changes in familiar spaces as clues, based on realistic and relatable themes like college entrance exam stress, friendship, and the struggles of adolescence. As players follow the emotional arc of a seemingly ordinary day, “moments of disarray,” they gradually approach the truth behind the events.

Collect global feedback through field-centered operations.

Rats plans to use its participation in the Taipei Game Show not only as a promotional opportunity but also as an opportunity to substantially improve the quality of its development. The exhibition booth will focus on live demonstrations, allowing visitors to experience the core gameplay of “502” firsthand. Real-time feedback and reactions from users across various countries and cultures will be collected and reflected in game development.

The Taipei Game Show is one of Asia’s largest game exhibitions, attracting over 300,000 visitors annually. It’s a crucial gateway for developers seeking to enter the Greater China market. Through this exhibition, Lats plans to expand its reach with gamers from diverse regions, including Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong, as well as Southeast Asia and Japan, and actively open communication channels with the global community.

A representative from Rats stated, “‘Room 502’ is a game that follows the emotions and clues that arise when a seemingly ordinary day changes,” and added, “Through the Taipei Game Show, we will expand our contact points with users from various regions, including Greater China, and expand community communication in earnest.”

A stepping stone to overseas expansion with support from Busan Indie Connect (BIC).

“No. 502” gained the opportunity to participate in this year’s Taipei Game Show through the Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC) support program. BIC is a leading program supporting the international expansion of Korean indie game developers, offering selected developers support for exhibition participation fees, marketing consulting, and global networking opportunities.

‘No. 502’, currently in development with the goal of launching on the PC platform, is preparing for an official launch through global digital distribution platforms such as Steam in the future, and plans to consider expanding to additional platforms depending on the response at the Taipei Game Show.

The Korean indie game industry is closely watching to see how “No. 502,” a mystery genre game that captures Korean sensibilities and a youthful narrative, will fare in the global market. With the recent success of domestic indie games like “Dave the Diver” and “Daving Over It,” global interest in Korean indie games has grown. “No. 502” is expected to capitalize on its unique subject matter and high level of completion.
