Wonder Potion, one of the leading Korean indie developers, announced that it will release the first spin-off of its representative work, ‘Sanabi’, ‘Sanabi Spin-off: The Day I Was Possessed’ for free on November 27th.

Sannabi is a title that opened the door to the global success story of K-indie games, and it received much love from global users for its emotional and dense scenario, detailed directing, and excellent action. Wonder Potion has been focusing on the production of the next work, ‘Paradise Workshop’, since the launch of Sannabi, but once again garnered hot interest from fans by surprise releasing a Sannabi spin-off last September. In particular, this spin-off’s demo version was first revealed at G-Star 2025, and the waiting time at the event was so long that it recorded over 4 hours as soon as it opened, proving the high public interest in Sannabi.

Major Song is the main character, and a new play style centered around shotguns and close combat.

The protagonist of this spin-off is Major Song, who gained immense popularity as a charming character in the main story. Major Song, who served in Room 12 of the Ui Geumbu before meeting Brigadier General Geum, appears as a playable character.

While the main character of the original game showcased wire-based action using a chainsaw, Major Song offers a completely different gameplay style. He focuses on recoverable aerial jumps and shotguns, while also allowing for close-quarters attacks using swords. New combat mechanics have also been added, including a “burst” system that defends against enemy attacks and boosts the output of all actions, as well as a reinforced shotgun.

Wonder Potion CEO Seung-hyun Yoo explained, “We’ve already done everything we could do in the main game with the wire action using the chain hook, so there was nothing new to create as DLC.” He added, “This time, we focused on combat, but maintained the stylish action that unfolds in the air.”

A mystery unfolding in a waste disposal site on the outskirts of Hanyang, approximately 2 hours long.

The scenario is set in an attack robot disposal site on the outskirts of Hanyang. It follows Major Song, who enters the site in pursuit of a clue to a crime, encountering unusual robots, unjust orders from his superiors, and a suspicious brigadier general, leading to a series of bizarre events.

It consists of a scenario of about 2 hours, 8 regular stages, and 2 bosses, and contains the story of Major Song meeting the main character, the brigadier general.

There are four difficulty levels, from the infinite stamina ‘Chick’ to the hardcore difficulty of ‘Nationally Certified Human Weapon’ that kills in one hit, so players can choose according to their skill level.

A gift for fans, without spoiling the finished story.

The development team explained, “We decided that it would be disrespectful to the fans to stir up the story that was completed in Sannabi with a flimsy side story,” and “It is a completely different story from Sannabi, and it contains events that take place in a scrapyard with Major Song as the main character during his time serving in Room 12 of the Office of the Inspector General.”

Originally planned as a short episodic series, the game was transformed into a full-fledged spin-off featuring entirely new playable characters and scenarios to repay the support of its users. CEO Yoo Seung-hyun stated, “I have no words to express except my gratitude to our fans. Because we worked so hard to repay them, the volume of the game has grown significantly beyond our original promise.”

Development of Mari’s Side Story and Sannabi 2 also announced

Wonder Potion is also preparing a second spin-off, “Marie’s Past.” However, due to limitations with the current game engine, it will be developed alongside the next installment, “Sannabi 2,” and distributed free of charge.

“Sannabi 2” will be developed with a Metroidvania structure that enhances adventure elements while inheriting the stylish platformer action and narrative of the original. The game aims to offer a more complex experience, including deeper exploration of the Joseon cyberpunk world and customization of abilities and skills.

Wonder Potion plans to strengthen its development capabilities by first producing the new IP ‘Paradise Workshop’ ahead of ‘Sannabi 2’, and then move on to developing ‘Sannabi 2’ and the Mari side story.

‘Sannabi Side Story: The Day I Was Haunted’ will be released for free on Steam on November 27th.
