Smilegate announced on Wednesday the 13th that the indie game platform ‘Stove Indie’ signed a PC platform global publishing contract for the soul-like game ‘VEDA’ currently in development by domestic developer Trypul Games (CEO Jeong Man-son). The contract signing ceremony was held at the Global Game Hub Center of the Korea Creative Content Agency, which served as a bridge between the two companies.
‘VEDA’ is a post-apocalyptic near-future game where 90% of humanity died from an ancient virus, and survivors are living in underground bunkers to escape from mutated creatures. Users can play with the concept of training for difficult battles by accessing the training simulator created by VEDA. In addition, new users can enjoy the game more comfortably by incorporating growth elements in the rogue-lite genre that relieve the stress of character death.
‘VEDA’ has already caught the attention of many indie game fans by participating in various global game exhibitions such as G-Star, TGS, and Gamescom. In addition to the ‘2024 Indie Craft’ Grand Prize, it has also won numerous indie game award ceremonies such as the 2024 BIC Stove Indie Pick, the 2023 G-Star Indie Showcase Most Anticipated Game, and the 17th Gyeonggi Game Audition TOP3.
Smilegate and Trypul Games signed this contract and promised to maximize the strengths of both companies for the successful global service of ‘VEDA’. Smilegate plans to provide an environment where Trypul Games can focus more on development and also provide full support for user communication and global marketing. The game is aiming for an official launch in 2025.
Smilegate CEO Yeo Seung-hwan said, “‘VEDA’ is a game whose excellence has already been proven through many game shows. We will do our best to actively utilize Stove Indie’s business know-how to spread the fun of domestic soul-like games even further.”
Trypul Games CEO Jeong Man-son said, “We have continuously improved the game through feedback from many users. We will do our best to present a more complete game together with Smilegate.”
Meanwhile, VEDA will participate in the joint booth of the ‘Game Level Up Showcase 2024’ and the ‘G-Star Indie Showcase’ operated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency at ‘G-Star 2024’, the largest game exhibition in Korea. It plans to unveil the ‘PS5 Build’ for the first time at this G-Star.
